Not an easy question to answer. When you consider how inconsistent we can be it was a brilliant performance. We had a completely electric 10 minutes against Forest where we steam rollered them but then a terrible second half.
We?ve had 5-0 ManU, Barcelona, PSG and other tremendous performances but, this was a different game. This was a game with a 70 year weight on the players backs and a game for digging deep and battling against one of the top 3 sides in the world.
Theres no question it was one of Newcastle?s best ever performances and Im sure itll be remembered as such forever.

I think we?ve seen more complete performances.

But for me, the magnitude of this match, what it means to the club and the fans? let?s be honest, it has been 70 years since our last domestic trophy.

Wembley has been barren hunting grounds for us? and it?s not like we?ve even deserved a win there since.

We?ve never turned up, bottled it every time and let the occasion get to us.

This time, we made Liverpool look like the novices, look like a team that was overawed by the occasion as if they never believed they should be there themselves.

We beat the top 4 teams of the Premier League this season to win that trophy? if anybody deserves it, it?s Newcastle United.

We didn?t have an easy run to the final, we got there and knew what we had to do, all credit to Howe for grounding the players and making sure that the occasion didn?t suffocate them.

All being said? That was for me the greatest performance I have seen us.

You make a very compelling argument Guy. The route to the final, beating all the top teams, showed the passion and heart through out despite not playing at our best along the way, the doubts due to missing players like Botman, Hall & Gordon, playing the 'BEST TEAM IN THE WOOOOOORLD' in the final. Hyperbole or not, Liverpool are still a good side with some excellent players and have been most consistent through the whole season.

All those things combined do make for a strong argument.

Most significant match in our modern history, yes. I think it will be the 'watershed' moment in which NUFC take the step up from being finalists to Champions. Champions, a winners mentality is now something understood by everyone connected to the club.

Fans more confident in key matches, players knowing they can win silverware at the club, reinforcing the decisions of those who joined us and drove us to that victory and also plants a big flag on the Football landscape that we're a club where talented players can achieve great success.

It's a great moment and a win that will be engraved into the history of our club and English football, as Newcastle United's name is engraved in to the trophy, it will be spoken about as the moment that marks the first step on the road to establishing us as a European regular and a serial winner.
