Good call, Lolmorgan. I remember seeing Dave Cousins leading The Strawberry Hill Boys, a bluegrass band, at a small folk club in Surrey in about 1967. They morphed into the brilliant Strawbs and I've always had a lot of time for DC as a result.

Had to resort to Wikipedia but I suppose I could have just read the list on here to realise, although Black Sabbath definitely don't seem to fit the mould.

I'd struggle to even name a prog rock album but I guess some of the oldies on here were into that type of stuff

    Fragile by Yes
Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson

And maybe surprisingly, Hergest Ridge by Mike Oldfield not Tubular Bells

Yes but Grave New World takes some beating, no bad tracks on it

If Pink Floyd counts, they win hands down for me. If not, Demons and Wizards, Argus and any Focus album.

Quite a bit of The Moody Blues output. They were credited with originating the genre with Days of Future Past, though In Search of the Lost Chord is what sticks with me for nostalgic reasons.
