Well, its small steps and all that, and I suppose I would have taken a point beforehand.
Although Wigan are actually a poor team (not much better than Cambridge last week), and they were clearly there to be beaten today.
These last two games are suggesting what might be happening with the squad next season. And this will mean a lot of frustrating and inconsistent performances ahead. 😕

I know the interest in the reds has totally gone but to be fair anyone who hasn’t seen the full game then I suggest you watch it on ifollow re run.

Had we still been in touch with the playoffs then everyone would have talking about the yellow card when Humphreys was pulled down breaking away. Red card all day long last man.

Unable to post pictures on here anymore via iOS probably another in the offensive catagory .

I suspect the season can't end quickly enough for many including myself .
A young keeper like Kieran should be protected. Theres enough experience in front of him with ?Gobs on them? to help, the young lad, Mael DG was trying to shield it back, Flavell was rushing out. 50/50. IMO
We watch Everton virtually every game, and Pickford has done this about 4 times this season, probably resulting in 2 goals for the opposition??. The England Keeper?!
I think the lads one realy well so far , considering where he has been elevated to ?..

I would be going again with the starting 11 on Tuesday.. play offs is gone?. But a re build is possible.
Tuesday, Id like to see young Dyer, and Nejmam given a runout.

Didn?t watch the game but saw the highlights.
Their goal was just another example of how poor the organisation in our defence has been this season.
I have probably missed seeing 2 or 3 games this season and in none of the games I?ve seen as the defence looked well disciplined and playing as a unit.

    The Hourihane bounce hasn?t happened.
I was against him coming to Barnsley in the first place.
As said back then - he was good when he played here - but even then he was slow over the grass and he wasn?t going to get any quicker now he?s much older.
Clearly his legs had gone and I expected to see him play less than 10 games in a season.
Probably coming on in the last 15 minutes to steady the ship.

I?m not a person who believes the conspiracy theory he was brought in to sell season tickets.
IMO he was brought here to do what the club said - play the occasional game and learn the coaching side of things.

He?s clearly not a HC - and is extremely unlikely to get the permanent job.
I thought he was dead wood to start with.
    He?s even deader wood nar.
But still liked by some of the fans.
And he?s a friend of the Crynes.

    So my point is this.
What does the club do with him now ???
Are we stuck with him ???

Well Nudger it has taken you just 3 games to write off another potential Hc and you are writing him off after a match that you actually did not watch ,which I find unbelievable , the jury is out for me and in my opinion the jury should be out for everyone else , he is on a 10 game trial with a weak squad , an awful defence , a number of injuries plus he players who are out of contract in a few weeks who are already on the beach playing in a team who have nothing to play for , he has hardly been dealt a good hand has he ? . I thought we started poorly but he tweaked it round and we gradually took control of the game , it was a freak goal for Wigan which gifted them a point plus Wigan were clearly fortunate not to go down to 10 men when on another 99 days out of 100 they would have done , we kept going and Hourihane used his substitutes and got his tactics right , he has brought Bland into the defence who looks like he has been there for years and other youngsters are getting a chance, Jalo made his first start in a game and he had the guts to leave established players out of the team , all in all it wasn"t great but there were definitely green shoots appearing , so please get off his case , give him the 10 games and then judge but alas I think you like a lot of other Reds fans have already made your minds up , instant judgement !! , nobody ever seems to get a chance at our club, it is either instant success or nothing , yet the root of the problem get away scott free.

I'd actually give the job to Hourihane and my thoughts on why are this .

Reading between the lines it looks to me that next season we are going with some of the younger players such as Flavell , Bland Jalo , Yoganathan with Shepherd and Lopata coming back to the club from their spells out on loan .

This will probably require those that do purchase a ST next season to be patient and probably have very little in the way of expectation about getting promoted .

Let Hourihane in to his first HC role get on with the job whilst learning himself and try and piece this process together .

There's every chance even when the team is likely to be very inconsistent that an ex player of Hourihane's calibre with a team containing home grown young lads might just be given the time to steer the ship towards calmer waters .

Hourihane is unlikely to moan about the budget given this is his first role which has dropped in to his hands earlier than he probably expected .

I just think at this point in time It's probably the most common sense appointment given the financial restrictions that's going to make the next two or even three seasons difficult to be successful at this level .

Let him mould the team next season in his own image and who knows he might be just what we need as we enter a period of acceptance of league one football .

All three young lads did well yesterday in my opinion and I made young Flavell MOTM.

We constantly keep trying to shield the ball out of play and MDG a player I like is the biggest culprit. A learning young keeper in front of him you would think row Z every single time.

Decision making the biggest problem with this squad and if Hourihane can sort that out we will be will well on the way and as for writing him off after just three games you are having a laugh and playing your usual wind up card Nudge.

Great to see the kids getting a game and for that I enjoyed it.

I always believe in a situation like that it's the keeper who takes charge of the situation .

The keeper can see everything in front of him and by definition knows what to do , he should have cleared the ball and if he takes MDG with it then so be it .

The kid will learn and these mistakes are part of young players developing and as long as he learns from it then he'll become a better keeper for it .

Flavell is a decent size , has that presence about him and looks very promising , the save he made in the second half was top notch .

I actually thought we looked good in attacking phases yesterday and moved the ball around okay.

Defensively though we weren?t great. Their goal was obviously very poor and in the first 10 minutes we looked all over the shop. I think our goal settled us down.

Speaking of the goal it was another fantastic strike from DKD. I fear he?s going to get a lot of interest in the summer.

As for the coach, I think it?s hard to judge Hourihane with the squad we have got available right now. It sounds like he is working very hard behind the scenes. Hopefully that will transfer out on to the pitch and in results before the end of the season.
