My thought is that we won't be renewing a rivalry with Wrexham for a long time.

Why is everyone being so phlegmatic?

Notts County have two chances of promotion with one game to go, and have some very good players for this level.

I'm beginning to wonder if some on this board enjoy wallowing in failure more than achieving against the odds!

I actually believe I will see Notts County in the Premiership in the next 10 years.
I think the brothers are taking exact the right approach and not over extending themselves. In my slightly optimistic dreams, I see the Championship in 3-5 years. The brothers may consider additional investors at this stage, ready for a final push.
I need to think a bit more about when we will reach the Champions League. 🏆

The Premiership in 10 years might be optimistic, but I agree with you about the brothers taking the right approach. They're trying to grow the club steadily and organically in a such a way that each time we take a step upwards, we've got enough resource to stabilise at that new level and then gradually start to build for the next. It's not an exact science and there will be setbacks along the way, but their strategy remain the best way to build something that actually lasts.

I agree with Swale above that Ryan Reynolds and Co. at Wrexham are an example of what Munto could have achieved it if had been real, and fair play to them. Our two clubs shared a special moment in time and the way Wrexham's owners responded to our challenge showed their class and sincerity. They appear to be the 'real deal', and I don't begrudge Wrexham fans their lucky break because their club arguably went through even worse times than us for many years.

We've both now got owners who seem to genuinely have their respective club's best interests at heart, and even if the rates of investment and progress are different, fans of both sides should have recent enough memories of what went wrong before to appreciate the comparatively good position they're in now. Both clubs are doing well.

A long time ago, I entertained the hope that Notts would get back into the top flight before I pegged out. Your post reminded me how that's gone. I very much doubt I have time for a 10-year wish now, but perhaps I might see us getting into the Championship.

Regarding your other post about "enjoy(ing) wallowing in failure" I would be mildly offended if you suggested that applied to me. I don't know how long you've been a Notts fan, but I suspect you may not have had quite the same conditioning by repeated disappointment that I've had. Given that, I have no idea why I'm still an avid fan, suffering miserable weekends when we lose at home (again). It's not rational, but we all do it.

Their owners were interested in us before they plumped for Wrexham. I would love to know what or who put them off.
