Bob Hynd told us at the Dee4life AGM in March 2018 that John Swinney was attending that afternoon?s home game against St Johnstone as a guest of Dundee Football Club. Swinney was to get things moving regarding the transport problems with the news stadium development at Campy Nou. Seven years later Swinney is again being mentioned about getting things done regarding the transport issues with the new stadium development at Campy Nou.
Swinney does not have the brains or knowledge to get this sorted. He will get his special advisers and senior civil servants to deal with it and he will take all the credit if the transport issues are resolved.

When the plans for every large planning application are submitted to a local authority in Scotland every statutory consultee receives details of the planning application and they have to reply stating whether they are in favour of the large planning application or not.
In some cases they may state that they are in favour of a large planning application subject to certain conditions which must be agreed by the developer before a consultee will confirm that they are in favour of the large planning application.
In the case of the large planning application for the new stadium development at Campy Nou submitted by Dark Blue Property Holdings Limited Transport Scotland is one of the statutory consultees to receive details of the planning application.
Transport Scotland was not one of the statutory consultees for the Eden Project large planning application because Dock Street in Dundee is under the control of Dundee City Council because it does not have trunk road status.
Transport Scotland are only responsible for trunk roads throughout Scotland which includes the A90:Kingsway bypass of Dundee.

As far as I am aware there is no Dundee City Council Planning Committee meeting in July 2025.
According to Nelmsy in April 2024, his Campy Nou planning application was being discussed at the Dundee City Council Planning Committee meeting in August 2024.

Did any of your sources at the meeting say if anyone was brave enough to ask Nelmsy where the ?100 million was coming from to pay for the cost of his new stadium development.
It was previously stated in the media that Dundee Football Club were paying the cost of the new stadium which was between ?40 million and ?50 million.
Dundee Football Club have no fixed assets and are only still in business because Tim Keyes keeps bankrolling the club despite it making huge losses every financial year so there is no chance of Dundee Football Club being able to pay the cost of the new stadium at Campy Nou.

I think the reply you have given is intended as a witty one liner, and it made me smile. However the point being made is how will DFC be able to pay the rent on a stadium that might cost upwards of ?30m?
If Aberdeen put their proposals on hold because of economic uncertainty, what makes the fans who support the building of the stadium, belive that our club can afford it.

A Dee4life Director with experience in this field stated at the Dee4life in November 2023 that the commercial annual rent for the new stadium at Campy Nou would cost more than the current Dundee Football Club annual turnover. The Dundee Football Club annual turnover for the year ending 31st May 2023 was three million, two hundred thousand pounds.
If full planning permission is granted for the whole of the new stadium development at Campy Nou I expect Dark Blue Property Holdings Limited to sell the site to a pension fund or hedge fund to develop the site including building the new stadium and charge a commercial rent to repay their outlay as soon as possible.

I would really like to understand the affordability for DFC to be in a new stadium. Suppose the stadium costs ?50m. If a property developer had ?50m to invest is he happy with say an 8% return. That would mean ?4m per year. The developer would still own the stadium.

    How can DFC afford that?

The basic numbers if you were able to get a ?50m mortgage over 25 years at current5% rates would cost about ?5900 per month per ?m. That ?3.54m per year, but whoever paid the mortgage would own the stadium.

    How can DFC afford that?
    Help!
