He's technically better than most and I think his Academy background is evident. It must be a huge change playing against seasoned pro's and for me he's one for the not too distant future.
    I agree regarding Whitaker.

He was at fault on the weekend for losing his man on the first goal, it was na?ve defending, but that's what Notts have signed, an academy player with no senior football learning on the job. He's also found some games hard physically but he's only young and can develop in that area.

Technically he's excellent. If he irons out the nuts and bolts required to play the professional game I think he has the talent required to be a solid addition.

I think whitaker has been at fault directly for an opposition goal in probably 75% of games he's played for us.

He has missed maybe 4 free headers not even hitting the target.

He gives the ball away more than any other player we have. And not through trying to beat players he gives it away through poor control.

He tries silly flicks and clearly thinks he's exceptional when he is very much a weak link.

If we signed him. It should be on a very cheap deal with him being sent on loan to a conference team for all of next year with a recall option. But I'd much rather get rid.

Minutes of competitive football is one of the resources the club has to spend every year. Spending these giving other clubs' players experience via the loan market isn't the best use of that resource.

Of course, one more highly capable loan player could've seen us promoted automatically this season so there's always a tradeoff. For now I'm quite pleased with how the club's strategy has progressed.

If you look at the Whittaker conundrum in isolation, it’s good business. 6 months is I think all we’ll get from him, not to downplay what he’s done on a good day, but given that we were in a bit of a pickle when one of our best players needed to leave for a good sum. A good sum, not great, led us into the position of replacing mid-season which would have meant splashing out a big ol’ number for someone who’s likely not going to be a like-for-like, but decent.

They went for the cheaper option with Whittaker, the unknown, and like a loan, comes to its natural end at the season after patches of excellence but overall, it’s just been a bit meh. Crowley’s natural replacement will come in the team over the summer when all the dust has settled and the look at how much we can pay for this person. Whittaker, unfortunately, has and will be this season’s scapegoat and its nothing to do with his performances really, it’s because he was always billed up to be Crowley MKII.

He has score 4 more goals than some of the others.

He doesn't lose possession as much as Jatta or even Jones per minutes played!!! Jatta couldn't hold the ball up or find a Notts player if his life depended on it. Jones just looks like a cry baby at present. Gave a goal away Saturday but trying a fancy flick when a simple give and go was on. Then feigned injury. Whitaker is learning and he's got real promise, he may or may not develop but he is worth a shot imo

Whitaker is well worth a longer deal to see what we can do with him, his performances have been very erratic but theres some real natural talent there.

And a couple of good goals too. Worth a longer look I'd say.

I reckon we'll prioritise that position in the summer and doubt he'll wanna be backup.
