I share the concerns, but also the hope that the owners know what they're doing.

However, as each day goes by it becomes clearer that they sacked the head coach without a replacement lined up, something I honestly thought they would never do. Bold move, let's hope it pays off.

I will remain nervous until we have a new head coach and see the recruitment this window, because right now we have a very hollowed out squad without much special about it except some players with serious (unrealised, as yet) potential.

I feel like they were sure they HAD a squad capable of promotion and have sacked SM because he didn't get it there. And that maybe they were wrong on both counts. Time will tell, I suppose.

'Cos that's all they're are doing Pedro, just having a moan😆.
Nobody has said we are doomed yet, just making noises about the current state.

Not really , some like Jampie have posted a very sensible synopsis whilst having a moan like others. However some are accusing the Bros of all sorts. They don't want promotion , they don't know what they are doing , they've given up on the club if they appoint Alves, etc, etc, etc ! i found those accusation quite insulting and feel there is no need for them. Let the insults and accusations begin when the manager has been signed sealed and delivered. Let the dissection of the new influx of players begin when they have at least been signed. i think we are all nervous because of the situation around the manager and the ins and outs off players, but lets just sit tight and not throw insults at the owners ! not just yet anyway !! as for Nobody has said we are doomed yet , we were already going to be relegated if Maynard had been left in charge,

Hard to pass judgement until we've seen who the next coach will be and who we'll sign this summer. It does seem like a make or break kind of preseason, at least in terms of fan sentiment. But I do think we have a footballing identity and stability on the pitch. It's just not what some fans want.

I do think we're at a crossroads in terms of our strategy. We've moved on a lot of star players. The system works - sort of. But we're running out of momentum, both on the pitch and in the stands.

When I think back to the NL days, we had exciting players like Roberts, Langstaff, and Rodrigues. Even Wootton. Really top players for that level. Some of our recent signings haven't hit that level. We managed to sort the defence, but we now need to go out and sign some genuine stars to get us firing on all cylinders.

We also need a quality head coach, but that goes without saying. I think we'll learn a lot about where our owners are at and what our future looks like this summer.

I agree with this. People talk about our recruitment as a weak point. Personally I can't remember a time when our recruiters this good. We will have to wait and see what happens by the end of the window but I'm calm.

I like the bros' strategy but I would add a couple of caveats. First one is that if the overall strategy is to find underrated talent then move most of them on for a profit, just keeping a couple of high performers on improved contracts as pillars to build the team around, it makes sense for one of them to be the manager, as he can add value to team performance overall and every player in the squad.

Second is we have to be a bit careful to avoid becoming late Wenger era Arsenal - pretty football, a few gems in the team but the good ones moving on faster than we can replace them. Then the other good players leave because we never quite fulfill our potential.

So I would hope they just tweak it slightly but I'm generally happy with how the club is being run. McGoldrick was great and could turn a game in an instant but rarely ran a game. I still think we have a Crowley shaped hole in our team rather than a Didzy shaped one. Fix the midfield and we will start to see more from Jatta and Traore IMO.

agree. In terms of how it all panned out: Didzy was like the rich uncle you never knew you had left you 10k surprise!, whereas Dan Crowley was v!tal for the club's vision/identity/how the Bros want Notts to play.

As much as DMcG was a class above L2 last season, it's a team game and Dan probably made more happen for the team. Not as many goals (and wonder goals) individually, but probably more goals/wins over the season. Just an onion, could be wrong.

A Shallot could be wrong with it.

Here's where I think we are:
A very good keeper and decent defenders in place
Whoever comes in as manager (and I suspect it's already sorted but not announced for whatever reason) needs to abandon playing our two most threatening players in positions where they're miles from the goal when they get the ball
And knackered from chasing back defending

It's likely that AJ will be sold if we get an offer we can't refuse so there should be funds available

    So what do we need:
Legs, energy and power in the middle of the park
And a couple of decent forwards - possibly young prospects from PL or Championship clubs

    All is not lost
