I can see the exact same happening, more wages I mean, not Man Utd, if we go for Guehi.

Chelsea or Liverpool will offer more money.

We need to be looking outside the Prem, the level of our first choice 11 means that prem established players will have, or we should have been banging down doors yesterday, though to be fair none of us know if we were or not.

I just hope we have options for each position and are quick to pivot.
The top quality players in our squad, Tonali, Bruno, Isak are all from other leagues. Whether we can bring in talent from the Premier League remains to be seen.

Whilst the cartel are capable of offering bigger salaries, Delap wanted 120,000 quid. A 22 yr old with lots of potential who had 1 season scoring 12 goals. Does that make sense?

We'll get the players we need, I don't doubt that. At this point I would prefer we go for the Isak, Bruno level player and give them the higher salary than a lower tier player with delusions of grandeur with ludicrous wage demands.

So with reports of Chelsea sending Sancho back, and Fernandes turning down a move to Saudi, that leaves Man Utd in a hole and having to sell players.

Their front line now includes Cunha, Rashford, Garnacho, Zirkzee, Hojlund, Amad, Mbuemo (if it happens) and they still need an out and out striker as Hojlund and Zirkzee are garbage.

Around 120 mill on 2 players and north of 20m a year in added wages per year, they HAVE to sell and buying clubs will have their life anyway, but if players refuse to accept lower wages they might be stuck and have really limited movement in the market left with still massive change needed to have a decent first 11 across the pitch.

In my 'It's never gonna happen thread' about Rodrygo.

    We discussed Bummo at length.

I raised concerns about him being absent from the squad for the month of January next season for the African Cup of Nations. Voiced my dislike for that illustrious regional tournament being played mid season.

Plus more recently the deeper dive into his stats, looking at his XG and penalty goals. Bummo's scored +10 on his XG. Is this a true next step for the fella or is it a season where he's played above himself? We'll find out next season and the Graveyard of ambition.

The reason he's chose to go to the swamp is purely financial. Whilst I argue players should get paid the majority of the revenue generated from the sport. Going to play for a club with no European football, no guarantee of achieving that next season with 8 other teams being in stronger positions is disappointing. Bummo's demands were between 180,000 and 225,000 quid a week depending on who you listen to.

He wants to match Cunha's money. Understandable.

Plus the word is that Brentford want north of 65million quid for him. That's not a good price. That's too far too much. 50mil makes sense but as I mentioned else where, anything more and it's not worth it. He's not worth more money than Isak.

This time last season, we were all raging at The Filth blasting another 200+mil on the catalogue of failures they brought in, Zerkee et al. Everyone was p!ssed that they were going be able to 'cartel their way back to the UCL'. Didn't work out for them did it?

Amorim is still the same guy who guided them to 15th. They won't be building a squad that will do what he needs them to do. Also, apparently he's handed his resignation in before the end of the season. What a coward!

    That's not a happy ship.

No doubt they'll do better than they did this past season, lord knows with that spend and those resources they should sit minimum 8th. However, time will tell on whether the Portuguese can make it work in an unworkable environment. A poor start to the season, negative results and poor football will see the fans up in arms again.

Sir Ball sack is still cutting jobs and doing his best to alienate the fan base.

So, I'm not concerned at all.

Disappointed in the players choices but then again, we really don't know if he was our No.1 and the player Eddie absolutely wanted. I highly doubt Eddie Howe is that disappointed. So long as we get a quality player in the positions we need to fill he'll get on and keep delivering

That is according to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, who has spoken to Geordie Boot Boys about the Mbeumo situation.

“I had been told for a few weeks that Newcastle were balking at the price for Mbeumo,” he said.

“That is how it has played out. Having seen what Manchester United have paid for Matheus Cunha, Brentford think that Mbeumo is a better player so are not going to accept less than what he cost. That sets the market.

“Newcastle are not willing to pay that, from what I am hearing. I am not even sure if they were willing to go to ?55million, which is surprising.

“Do Newcastle come back in and offer over ?60million for him? Never say never, but right now he is firmly heading towards Manchester United. Newcastle are not willing to pay his asking price, and it is as simple as that.”

They paid more than 65m for Cunha - Bummo's price is gonna be north of 65m. We all agreed that's far too much.

It remains to be seen who Newcastle will prioritise next, with Bailey suggesting two other Premier League wingers that Howe’s side could pursue.

“There are other options out there, the likes of Noni Madueke at Chelsea,” he said.

“However, I personally do not think Madueke is an Eddie Howe player. The manager is going to have a lot more say in the transfers this summer, so we need to take that on board.

“Could Newcastle come into the Mohammed Kudus situation? Possibly.

“He would be a little bit cheaper than Mbeumo, but not massively. West Ham need to sell him to enable them to do other things. He will be going for less than his ?85million release clause. He does not want to go to Saudi Arabia, so he will likely be moving within England.”

The two alternatives mentioned are really not WOW.

Madueke is too much of an individual, IMO.

Maybe Eddie can mould the lad. We need spend no more than 35-40m quid for the lad. He's only 23 going 24 so possibly.

However, He's not a team player, talks about winning the Golden balloon rather than the Champions League with the team. Says everything about the kid.

The other Mo Kudus, is another African.

Despite how good he is we'll be losing him to the Ghana for AFCON Sun, Dec 21, 2025 – Sun, Jan 18, 2026

Kudus just isn't it for that kind of money. He's versatile for sure, prefers the right, left footed. Ticks Eddie Boxes but it's again another player who can be considered 'established, known'. The money doesn't make sense.

Poundland Bruno (nice one, Raga!) refused Saudi move - BBC today. Bad news for Manyoo??

If we go under the radar (buy relatively unknowns from outside the PL) and out perform ManU again I will p*ss myself laughing.

Exactly they're screwed. Players have contracts and dont want to take less money to do a club who has treated them like a line item on a spread sheet any favours.

They'll be hammered and desperately have to loan out player and still cover 50% or more of the wages.

Rashford begging Barcelona to sign him LOL what a clown why would they waste their time with that 1 in 3, 1 in 4 goals a game no body.

    Delude clown!

Yeah I like that one too.

Tell me he's not Poundland, the pickle stabbing toothed little midget.

They're gonna be in serious trouble, they can't get people off the books. We had a similar issue with the Ashley long contract mob.

One other thing, yeah Mbuemo had a great return last season? but that?s the first year he has scored double figures in the Prem in 3 full seasons.

Brentford are well run, and Frank is a canny manager? who plays 4-3-3? exactly where is Mbuemo going to fit in? he?s not a wingback, he could play as a 10 (Amorin uses 2)? but considering Cunha is another, and Fernandes is one too? that?s one of their best players starting on the bench? so a good option? but they still desperately need a striker? they still need to improve the middle (Ugarte is gash, Mainoo (who I rate) is well out of favour and available on the market, Casemiro 🤣.

Their defence needs at least 1 centrehalf to replace Maguire who is so slow he?s gonna go faster in reverse, De Ligt is poor, Martinez is past it? and they need a keeper too which is the most obvious statement ever.

Amad is a canny player, but he?s a winger, he?s too small to play Wingback and mix it up, so they will either compromise and play him, try and put Mbeumo is that role and lose most of his game, or have to bring in another? as Dalot is sh!te.

Out of their team I would start, Yoro, Dorgu, Mainoo (but he?s out of favour), 2 of Cunha/Fernandes/Mbeumo in the 2 10 positions? and that?s 5 players they have that can perform in the team at a time, 4 if you take Mainoo out (as Amorin does, even for the Europa final)

They have a lot of changes to make and before too long they?ll run out of money to give Amorin? and they desperately still need an out and out striker? they?re convincing themselves Gyokeres will sign for them 🤣

I think it could go spectacularly sh!te for them next season unless they somehow manage to sell Rashford, Casemiro, Garnacho for serious money? and out of the 3 Garnacho is the more likely sale and not for earth shattering money? especially when you consider every buying club knows they really have to sell players out of favour under Amorin.
