It is. The key is to concentrate on what EH and the club have said. It hasnt been much but its all that matters: there is a small pool of players that can improve us (remember the importance of player temperament).
With PSR in action this means that our scouting needs to be better than other clubs which is extremely difficult.
The proofs in the pudding though and our signings since PIF bought us have been impeccable.
Bearing this in mind, I expect us to sign fewer players than we would all like but to make good signings.
More patience needed but the slow build of our squad is making exceptional progress when you consider the success of this, past season.

The way I look at it is this.

Incomings. I don't really care who the player is that comes in. I am confident who ever he is, he'll be the correct profile, with the high levels of potential with the right attitude to become a key strong character with a winning mentality in the squad and a key asset to the first team.

Eddie will take care of the rest in terms of development and tactical set up to get the wins we need to take that step up to the next level.

Fully agree, I think we are in an enviable position in terms of how far we have come in a very short period with the new owners under Eddie Howe’s management… but the issue is we need to improve the squad (and that’s the important part) so we can consolidate the gains before we can push on.

So I see it as a balancing act, we have less financial wiggle room than a lot of teams we are competing with for CL spots so we have to make the right buys BUT we clearly need more squad depth to be able to consolidate our position as a team that is up there and in Europe every year as a minimum, with CL being the target every season.

It is the squad available to Eddie that means, realistically, we can’t compete on all fronts and expect the 15/16 players we have of the quality we need to maintain levels over the full season, how many we need and what positions we need is the crux of it for me.

If we only bring in a couple of signings, then I wonder if the club needs to make a call on what they prioritise… the obvious would be to make the League our No 1 priority with the Champions League No 2 priority… that’s what will grow the club commercially so we can end up with the depth our competition has available to them.

Dippers winning the transfer window so far. Another player in early to address a weakness with Kerkez. We need to be doing some magical shiit behind the scenes to not just catch up but to stand still.

Still not too concerned yet. I have faith.

I think we've all been conditioned in a bizarre way where transfers are concerned.

Last summer "Spurs & The Filth Won the Transfer Window" according to a lot of pundits. That worked out well didn't it lol

As far as I'm concerned it's a zero sum game. We get the players in the positions we need to strengthen or we don't. What other clubs do and what players they get is very little to do with us.

This Delap kid, Bummo or Guehi. The big ifs, buts and maybes. Losing the race it's all bollox.

There is NO RACE FOR PLAYERS it's not a competition as it's played out in the media.

Clubs make offers and put their plan to the player (best case scenario) player decides which is the best fit/package and terms including squad status.

Clubs make offers and packages to the agent, who cherry picks the clubs that will give them the best agent fee and doesn't tell his client about the other clubs.

Either way. There is never a race. Clubs rarely change their offers once the proposal has been made to the player.

Only in the case that the player is very keen on one clubs 'project' but the financial package is so much bigger at another club to they go back to ask for improvements.

If the Agent is a scumbag, then this is where all the lies about race for players occurs, they play clubs off against each other to squeeze the most money out of the buying clubs. Mino Riola was hated by clubs as he would always get his clients into a bidding war as often as possible. Alternatively he'd push for the buying club fro all kinds of ridiculous extras, flights for family, tickets to the match and all manner of other expensive bolt-ons.

Often his clients didn't know what he was pushing for and in some cases they didn't even know other clubs has enquired about them has he had chosen their next club due to the 'package' wink wink on their behalf.

We need what we need. Eddie will turn the 3 or 4 players into world beaters like he's done with the rest of the squad.

It doesn't matter the names, it matters the personality, ability and potential.

I?m sure they are working on deals as we sit here and type.

Delap went to Chelsea. Did we lose the race and miss out? Absolutely not. Delap knows that at Newcastle he is Striker No.2

At Chelsea he has that chance to be No.1 with a World Cup coming up, it really was probably the move that would be best for his international career as I?d be confident of displacing Jackson (although Chelsea being Chelsea they might go sign another striker)

Yes, disappointed he didn?t come here, but for me, he made the right decision, shows he wants to be first choice and will be fighting to go to America in 12 months. Can?t begrudge the kid that.

Mbuemo is media talk linking him, and fans wishes I suppose - but no where has there been any official statement to say we?re in for him. Admittedly, would have liked us to be in the mix - but wouldn?t say we?ve been beaten in the race for his signature if we?ve never contested it.

No idea what is going on with Guehi like. Again, nothing to say we?ve gone back in for him. Wouldn?t surprise me if we did if 30mil is correct. And I wouldn?t be disappointed to see him through the doors as he has proven himself a winner, and rather professionally got on with his job last season and even scored a couple of goals for us too

However, I will happily wait it out and enjoy the well thought out, well researched signings we will be making to improve the first team.

And I?m confident that we will see a major first team investment this season after 2 without any.

Although not confident enough to net my house

Triple deal in the works apparently. 125million quid. Joao Pedro, Trafford & Elanga if the press are to be believed.

    Let's see what shakes out.

Well the Trafford one seems to have really bust into life today.

Apperently personal terms agreed, deal agreed, just payment structure to sort out.

?25 million - which seems almost to good to be true.

25million quid is about right with about 5m in add-ons. We've just been saturated with paper talk and utterly unsubstantiated rumours on price of players.

We had a deal with them last season for 20m. 25+5 seems fair.
