Nothing wrong at all in trying to accommodate the beliefs of others where possible but if you mean that the match was stopped to allow Muslim players to break fast then this does seem a bit ridiculous. The Premier League rules do apparently allow this break of one of two minutes but any break in football, whether for injuries or whatever, disrupts the flow.

My understanding is that Muslims break fast at sunset or else when it is completely dark so surely another option might have been to alter the day or timing of the match instead-though I recognise that this too might have provoked a similar reaction amongst some. I've just checked and this particular game was stopped in the 13th minute and allowed the Muslim players to take in liquid and vitamins after their fast but it begs the question as to why kick off could not have been delayed by 20-30 minutes instead to allow the sun to have set first?

On the other hand, of course, it could be argued that one or two minutes in the scheme of things is nothing and that such a break would hardly be an every day occurrence.

Exactly that Omeg and Man City were under the cosh and Pep was seen barking out instructions to the players!

No problem whatsoever with the break to take on fluids and electrolytes. It's not like they sacrificed a goat in front of the crowd and popped it into a pot. As for Pep barking instructions it happens game up and game down the country when one of the delicate little flowers goes down injured as though they've been hit by a steam roller. Apologies if I've missed anything profound. Just saw the thread title and thought I'd add something to the mix 😎 .
