No Piglet, the correct answer was further south on the Indigirka River at Orto Balagan. Caught out quite a few that one.

In a week where the average was 6.4, but the score-spread was between 13 and 1, something was bound to change. NZBlue is closing the gap to Pete at the top. Well done to Buc who top-scored with a magnificent 13 and got the results of nine of the games correct. He jumps FIVE places to seventh as a result. Also up are Psaw from fourteenth to eleventh and me from tenth to eighth. Mullen and Piglet each got 10 points but don’t move at all.

In detention this week are Crusha and Southblue who only managed a single point each. Crusha is down four to thirteenth and Southblue down two to fourteenth. Also down is Altobelli whose 3 drops him three spots to tenth.

Well lads, only three more weeks to claim your bragging rights. I expect every spare moment to be spent studying form, going on long contemplative walks and reading improving books. Oh, and Frank, if you’re going to tell the world that you’ll be beating me by 1705 on a Saturday It pays to do one thing, and one thing only. GET MORE POINTS THAN ME.

I will do Griif, i will. By the way, my comments in regard to AI are aimed at relieving you of your delusional belief in computers, keeping in mind of your scorn towards me when i suggested AI was flawed.

Of all the deaths inflicted on mankind by AI, and it must be an uncountable number, you are implicated, and responsible for mass homicide, by proxy. You should feel a sense of guilt, and shame, at having an unshakeable belief. If you think of yourself as intelligent and insightful, then i must ask you to think again. You must make restitution, and help fund the legal actions against Boeing by the families of those lost. And be more careful in what and who you believe.

As you can see, i have some skill in the english language as per the paragraph above, and im sure you are upset, as it has a veneer of truth . Im kidding. Having said that, i am sure now that you must think that in life or death situations, AI is trash.

I’d agree with you chalky, but I’m currently down the police station turning myself in on account of all the guilt.

Anyway Frank, remember the birth of the railways? Wasn’t it a government minister that was killed at the inception of the first line to open? Stephenson’s Rocket or summat. Never be an early adopter is my advice. Steer clear of new-fangled stuff until all the bugs are ironed out, but realise that even when they are things can, and will, go wrong. That seems to be the way the world works, but we can’t go backwards, slow but continuous improvement has got us to where we are - the place where you are decrying computers while using one to enter the predictocomp.

p.s, If computers are alive, bugs cannot be ironed out, find one solution, and another problem will pop up endlessly, its called adaption on part of the computer. Computers will never be safe.

Very clever Griff. There are alarming differences though. The computer kill rate is almost genocidal. Trains are just boiling kettles, or mechanical behemoths, its not hard to control, fix, or predict. Computers are a new horizon, to pretend like the Boeing engineers, that it AI is safe is nonsense.
You are right though that we need to progress, but not at the expense of airliners smashing into the ground nose first. The pace of trust and progress is too quick.

Steven Hawking etc says that mankind wiill be under threat from AI. Whether or not thats true or not is not known until we understand more about consciousness. I doubt if consciousness can exist in a computer, no matter how advanced, but then again who knows. If consciousness can exist in a computer, then god help us all.

There is a theory that i hold to is that consciousness cannot be created, that all things are alive to some extent or another. If that is the case, computers are alive.

Could it get any more exciting than this? No, don’t all speak at once, of course it can’t. Am I deceived? Has the long time leader, recently deposed, now risen back to the top or is this dust in my eyes? Grief, Howoldboy, where did that come from, and in a week when new leader Pete slipped up, and I mean BADLY. And now only one point between the top three! Howoldboy and Buc each got eleven, Pete only got one. Also, in two weeks Buc has risen from 12th to 5th which is some going. Well done to the pair of you.

AussieBranch and Piglet failed to show, even though they had an extra two days to enter. It must be an age thing. AussieBranch was the biggest move - down three - while Psaw failed to deliver his threat to rush up the table, instead ending in a four-in-a-bed scenario with Altobelli, Cayambe and Crusha, a situation that these latter three are advised to avoid lasting too long.

Frank, seriously, if you’re going away I’ll put the selection for next week up quickly. If you can’t wait, do what others do and leave me a few guesses. Or are you too computer-averse that you won’t spend a few minutes posting while you’re away? Same applies to anyone.

    Oh, and here’s a reminder....
