I’ve seen a few replays and I honestly can’t see him being any good for us in championship, he could of course be a late developer and I do wish him all the best but a championship player I can’t see at all, not sure he could cut it in L1 tbh either
He can prove me wrong and I’ll have a little smile on my face
Yes, there are players with natural talent, he’s not that type, and there are players that are steady and learn the trade, he’s more that type.
So he will probably earn a decent living in football but I don’t think he will inspire fans to go home saying “wow that Yates was brilliant today” on many occasions
I wish him well, but he can have a bigger impact on the club’s finances than he’s likely to have on the pitch for us.
The positive with Yates is he's a poacher. He doesn't need many chances to score. It was always the rest of his game that was his weak spot.
No height. No pace. Not physically strong.
Think he will be in league 1 next season and if he is will get double figures. Gl to the lad.
Ow and he runs funny (still)
Would have really liked him to do well for us, local lad but for some reason it just doesn’t seem to have worked out. Remember the first time I saw him play was against Sunderland pre season friendly, the day David moyes became their manager. Yates look promising that day.
Not sure why he didn’t progress with us. Either he’s in our plans going forward or not, if not should be let go to someone who dose want him. I know football is also a business but it doesn’t seem right the club trying to financially profit from it. Better go free with best wishes.
For me he wasn't quick, fit or strong enough that's not to say he didn't have some skills. I think he might make s decent lower league player but would be surprised if he made the championship level. That said we have had our ar se bitten before. If we can get a few hundred k we will have done ok.
