Correct. IB has seen us go out the cup to an unfit pub team, go from comfortable fourth with games in hand with a real chance of top spot taking 8pts from 12 to overseeing our worst run of defeats since we've been down here and drop out the playoffs with not a prayer of getting back into them.

Personally I've no faith at all that he's going to come good next season.

You denied being negative or biased which was bizarre. Nice to see a new KC with the change of manager/coach.

I'm not criticising the new manager, my finger of blame is pointed directly at the players. Who because of the OTT obsession over the old boss frankly got away with too little criticism. That time is over

The frightening thing about today is IB thinks THAT performance is acceptable.

What message is that sending out to the players?

The message it sends me is ‘I have no clue what I am doing, but I want to keep the players happy’.

    IB out.

A few posters have said they are happy with the appointment of Burchnall and are confident he will take us forward. I'd love to know what that confidence is based on, because I've seen absolutely nothing to give me even a hint of optimism so far. Today, I had no idea at all what his gameplan was. I didn't know who was supposed to be doing what, and I didn't seem to be the only one - the 14 on the pitch didn't seem to know either. The players deserve all the criticism they are getting, but so does Burchnall. This isn't a call for him to be sacked, just a plea for someone to tell me what it is that he offers. What qualities has he shown so far?

Being a young coach myself i can tell you the harsh reality is you have to keep your players on side. That means unfortunately you brush their egos and tell them how great they are. The players can make or break you, if they don't want to play for you they won't, but it will be you who loses your job. I have had the pleasure of doing sessions with the Cowley brothers, and they both said to me the worst thing you can do is lose the dressing room. Once that happens you're done, managers now are judged on their man management skills as well as the trophies they could bring.

Not the way Forest won the Eurovision cup though, is it?

IB talked a lot about players exhibiting bravery on the park when he took the job, but I’m not seeing much from him. Today’s formation was timid against a poor side, and we just never have enough players in the penalty area when we do actually venture over the halfway line.

These players just aren’t good enough to play out from the back - the defenders don’t move the ball quickly enough, midfield are lightweight and the forwards can’t hold onto the ball. How often is a player moving forwards when he receives the ball? Very rarely; we’re more likely to resemble a bunch of mannequins in black and white.

IB needs to print the league table out for the players this week and challenge them to prove that they are better than all of these pathetic performances suggest.

    Copy that.
I think he had a duty to the club to maximise our promotion chances - and he'd learn more from doing that than the farce he's overseeing instead. And didn't he say he'd spent time watching us on video.....he should've known who our best players/formations were...

I'll go further, his approach of 'blank slate, you have to impress me in training' is selfish and egotistical given that he employed by a club that should be hell-bent on taking any chance there is to GET OUT OF NON-LEAGUE. That would mean cajoling and motivating our best players and devising schemes to help them succeed.
He could have proven his point/stuck to his principles, whatever the hell it is he is doing, another time, not kill off our chances by playing the big man

And actually I think there could be a dose of courting favour with the majority going on, easier to marginalise the younger foreign lads, how else to you end up picking JOB over Rodrigues? Beats me

I wouldn’t place that much significance on what Burchnall (or any manager) says after the game, at least not this early. He’s got a squad with extremely fragile confidence which needs to try and get in the play-offs, he isn’t going to come out and say they’re terrible.
