For me the jury doesn't even enter the room until next Saturday afternoon. Fingers crossed!

I do agree with Matt slightly as I had complete faith and now it's about 80% faith but still going all in on IB as the man to get us going.

I like IB, he’s obviously intelligent and understands the game, players seem to like training which is key. I totally trust the owners as their pragmatic and not drawn in to the emotions but what I would love to know is how they became so invested in getting IB. I don’t imagine it was Jason Turner as he’s always been UK based or Richard Montingnue as he seemed previously more data driven and they don’t appear that connected.

I suspect it was the "moneyball" formula... find (in this case a manager) who overachieves with what he's got but that other clubs aren't interested in for whatever reason.

Works with players, works with managers. In this case you've got someone young (plenty of people on this board disliked him as a candidate because he's young), whose stats don't look great until you realise he achieved some of the best of them despite massive financial problems at the club.

Additionally, his preferred tactics totally gel with what they want, and his professional training focus is ideal for a club that wants to hire players with a lot of potential, build that potential out, and then on-sell them at a profit and/or play them up the leagues.

All of that adds up to someone, on paper, that looks like a good long-term bet for the club.

Dont appear that connected but took up a stake in another Nordic region club and run a football stats company. I'd say thats connected enough but we dont really know do we. Like most of the signings that come out of the blue!

Think he was offered 2 jobs, first at Wimbledon , then Shrewsbury, now assistant at West Ham , so probably on far more wages

None of that matters, Notts have been far worse since, are in non league, where a pub team can fancy there chances of scoring against us..
For the first time and possibly the last, I find myself agreeing with Davy. Although, I wouldn’t refer to Matt as deluded.

In the play off semis, the officiating was horrendous on key decisions. The penalty in the first leg, a goal ruled out in the 2nd leg and believe one of Covs goals were offside. I think it’s fair to say we were unfortunate.

However, our form from Jan(?) onwards was very poor. The away defeat at Chesterfield on Sky was the highlight of our poor performances. Yes we did lose Yates, but then can you not use the same argument for Ardley re Roberts and, to a lesser extent, Thomas. Not necessarily my view, but playing Devils Advocate.

I also agree with Matt with regards to our playing style under Nolan. It was bloody awful to watch. But, for a period of time, I could accept results over style.

Nolan did lose the plot, although I do believe he would of turned it around. The drinking was a big issue, not just himself, but the culture created in the dressing room.

Overall, despite our relegation, much happier with the condition of our club now.

    Agree with KKs post.

Definitely unlucky in both ties especially the 2nd leg against Coventry. Overall it was a very even tie IMO, the Sky Blues were far better than us in that 2nd leg 1st half when we were outplayed.

We also seem to forget it was only the semi final, even if we had won and the officials had got all the key decisions right. We still would have had a final to play against a good Exeter side so no guarantees.

We were certainly unlucky but as highlighted already in decline way before that game. The Chesterfield game on TV was as dire and disappointing as they come. They were truly awful and me made them look like the Italian national side that season as we couldn't string 2 passes together for most of the game.

All old news now, a distant many for most.
