DKE’s was rightly disallowed I reckon, but O’Briens is a right shocker, not even close to being offside.

Just watched the highlights. The offside decision to rule out JOBs goal was disgusting. Not even close to offsite. Great link up between Cal and Ruben for the 3rd. Good finishes from their striker but soft defending for both.

Extended highlights now on PiesPlayer. Might be subscription only though so sorry if that's the case.

The Aldershot triple-chance towards the end...
Slocombe got the credit, but take a look - maybe Rodrigues got a piece of both of those blocks?!
Great to see your creative players getting back to impact winning by throwing themselves around in your own 6-yard box. That, plus what he was doing at the other end late in the game, suggests he's caught up stamina-wise now.

My 'benefit of a replay' view of the key moments:

DKE non-goal - their keeper saves it, then with one hand tries to get hold of it with two. Before he does DKE slides in and puts it into the net. Did the keeper have control of the ball? It looks 50/50, which means refs will always side with the goalkeeper.
Our first - great first touch and layoff from Ruben, Wootton's shot wasn't cleanly hit but it went where he aimed it.
Their first - good from their point of view, but disappointing from ours. We need to defend balls like that much better.
Their second - bad error from Cameron. No foul for me, just a very poorly directed header.
Our second - Cameron makes amends by being determined to be first to the ball.
Our winner - the sort of quality we have that most other teams don't. A very classy goal.
JOB non-goal - what can you say, apart from that the lino will be very embarrassed when he watches the replay.

I think the DKE goal could go either way. I can see why the ref would disallow that.

However, the offside decision is completely unacceptable, it's not even margnial. A woeful decision at any level. The sort of call you get on the rec on a Sunday when the oppositions sub is running the line.

Agreed, I would disallow or at least have expected it to be disallowed at the time if I was sat in my old seat. I also didn't see enough of a full for their 2nd.

No excuse on JOBs, lovely run, lovely first time ball. Two really good team goals and one off a set piece. Marvellous.

Even with a confirmed ponderous and ineffective first half created plenty and enough to win any game.

What a difference it has made playing JOB. Had his goal not been wrongly flagged for offside he would be 2 goals and an assist from 4 games, the same as Roberts, and one of his was a pen.

O’Brien looks capable of contributing a very useful 8-10 goals from midfield this year IMO.

Our season is Roberts and Rodrigues, though. Neither are close to full sharpness yet and they’re already racking up goals and assists. An attacking midfielder who gets assists at a division-leading rate and scores at the same rate as most of the league’s top strikers is vanishingly rare at this level. To have two at the same time is incredibly fortunate/some accolade for our recruitment. If they stay fit, we’ll go close.
