If he had said "whatever rumours are flying about will be dealt with internally." That isn't quite pouring fuel on the flames but you certainly aren't pouring water on them either. That statement allows and encourages rumours to grow, could be viewed as confirming the rumours. Plus we had a fair idea it was being dealt with internally by the actions of non-selection. You've just got to read between the lines.

Maybe someone at the club told the head coach what to say when asked after it had been internally discussed at the club. If to some this boils down to the head coach not saying the right words when answering a question by a local journo and therefore misleading the fans, then I'd suggest we are missing the bigger (alleged) story here regarding a certain player.

Thankfully this seems to have been firmly put to bed last week by all the key players involved even if some fans want to try and keep it going.

I'm responding to new comments. As you will have seen the complaints from a small section of the fanbase regarding the whole situation have evolved over time.

Plus I don't want people who believe they've been lied to by the club or the ones who still demand to know the full story because they are fans, to lose any more sleep.
