And Kovacevic got a broken jaw off Wilkie. Things happen. Point is that too many contracted players over the last couple of years have simply been allowed to leave because they 'didn't fancy it'. Players who should have never been allowed to just simply go without adequate replacements coming in first. Guys such as Carson, Nicky Clark, even Tony Watt. You could even chuck in Tam Courts. Could you imagine back in the day a player under contract walking into Wee Jum's office and asking for a move because he didn't 'fancy it'. You don't need me to tell you the reaction. He'd have been telt to wind his neck in, knuckle down and work for a starting place while at the same time pushing those in possession of the jerseys. And then if it had been Trevor Carson, he certainly would have got his black eye.
And we've missed shagger badly. 🙂
Watched a few of JG's interviews last few days. He defo wants the job. Mentions a lot of things that ring bells for me. (could be soundbites I know)
Looks like he may be changing the team quite a bit for Sunday. Even mentioned giving certain players the chance to prove that they should be playing for us next season. (not sure if that's a young gun, or a usual suspect)
Also mentions his talks with the owner , saying he... (the owner) is still fully committed to the club, (might be something going on there)
Seemed like he was holding back a tad when complimenting the fans , looked like he really wanted to say that this team don't deserve the backing they had from us this season.
PS: I might have imagined that last bit![]()
Looks like it's JG then. I guess I'll wait and see, I'm so ****ing apathetic right now it doesn't matter who gets it really.
Who else is out there and within our reach who has the ability to take us back up? And im not expecting we go straight back up either.
I am quite curious to find out how RN, MM and TC would fare without the rumoured interference from Asghar, but am reluctant to have them back at the club. That therefore leaves the man who appears to be backing himself as our answer, but i hope he is allowed to root out those who are rumoured to have led the players revolt that appears to have gone on.
I am though already worried that other teams we are likely to face next season are already bringing players in, so we need an appointment PDQ!
You're not apathetic mate - like most of us I think you are phucking totally scunnered. The definition of apaththy for me is the non activity by the club in January. Who the phuck in their right mind thought that we were good enough to survive at that point. Deluded losers - get them to phuck away from DUFC.
You just hit the nail on the head where it went wrong , Asghar , RN MM and TC couldn’t get out the door quick enough , they obviously knew what fatso wanted and weren’t going to oblige , JR was also binned to be followed by Asghar yes man Fox , recruitment has been brutal and the last chance at survival was missed in the January window . By the time Goodwin arrived it was to little to late . Ogren has allowed himself and the club to be taken for a ride , he was his man , we can all see where that got him
I think we have to go with JG. Time is of the essence and he has worked with all these players...he knows exactly what he needs and he also knows the players that wouldn't follow him into battle. I think todays line up will show us exactly what he is planning. This will be a trial for several fringe players and a final curtain for others. We don't have enough time to let another manager come in with the" it's a clean slate for all the players" attitude. This entire team has been on trial with JC for the last couple of months and he will know 100% who he can trust. JG will be ruthless with ditching players, he had to try and put a protective arm around our popstars to try and coax a performance out of them. With the season over and the opportunity to change things, I reckon he will gut the team in the way it is needed!
It would certainly be a novelty having the same manager at the end of the season and at the start of the new one. That hasn't happened for a few years. From interviews with players they seem to like JG. Fletcher has given gave him full endorsement to stay on. The problem is the strength of the playing squad and used to playing a brand of football that is soulless. I am all for JG being given the chance to rebuild the squad for next season. He will already have a fair idea about where the problems are.
