Well done Donny, excellent win.
Betfred Championship Round 20
Wakefield Trinity 36 - 12 Widnes Vikings
This afternoons win puts Trinity 11 points clear at the top of the Championship with 6 regular season games remaining .
I think I'm pretty safe in saying the League leaders shield is in the bag and we can now plan for the business end post season campaign and hopefully the winning of the Championship Grand Final and a return to Super League .
But hold on .
There's a big situation developing at the bottom of Super League with the London Broncos now level with Hull FC on 6 points .
The Broncos could well finish above Hull and will be relegated regardless because of IMG , Hull are safe because of their Grade A IMG status .
This is heading for the High Court with the London Broncos owner not prepared to take this laying down .
I'd be interested in Acido's opinion on this given his Hull FC supporting background .
If Hull finish bottom they should be relegated is my take .
My worry is that this could get messy with lawsuits flying around and neither Hull or The London Broncos will be relegated .
Which leaves Trinity exactly where should we win the Championship Grand Final ?
This is what I was saying to a Hull K.R fan at work today Animal.
And I posted it yesterday on the comments section of the Bbc (London v Hull) match report as well.
Whoever finishes bottom should be relegated, it's as simple as that!.
I don't know if court action will be taken by London will it, but we all know that the RL people can't be trusted!. 😕
One thing I detest about RL is the pathetic scenario after the league campaign is completed where a play off system decides the title. Bonkers.
I think the London Broncos are performing as expected having come up from the championship last season .
What nobody could see was the absolute train crash that is Hull FC this season which has brought this situation to a head .
I don't think anyone thought Hull would challenge for honours this season but none the less this season has been a disaster .
What the RFL thought was that the Broncos would finish rock bottom and cast a drift of everyone else .
Now one of the IMG Grade A club's are potentially going to finish rock bottom it's backfired on the RFL .
Wakefield Trinity are CHAMPIONS after Fev beat Toulouse at Post Office Road this evening .
Congratulations to Darryl Powell and his squad for a fantastic season so far , that's two out of the three trophies we wanted at the start of the season .
Next one up is the one that matters the most and a Grand Final victory and an instant return to Super League .
Betfred Championship Round 21
Halifax Panthers 6 - 48 Wakefield Trinity
The last time I visited The Shay was in March 1979 to see Allan Clarke's Reds secure two valuable promotion points in a 2-0 win .
Seriously impressed with The Shay of today compared to my last visit all those years ago .
With almost 3k Trinity fans behind the posts and in the covered North Stand it made for a cracking atmosphere and a golden afternoon I'll never forget .
Seeing Trinity presented with the League leaders shield after the game and the celebrations between players , fans , coaches and our owner Matt Ellis was a joy to behold .
It's been a long time between drinks but we've two pieces of silverware in the trophy cabinet already , we've won as many trophies this season as we have in my time following the Trin over the last 42 years .
I'd quite like a third in October too .
