I paid so little attention to English football for about 10 - 15 years that I had no idea who even their top players were.
The English team at world cup finals etc. were full of unknowns as far as I was concerned.

I've been watching Match of the Day for about 3 years now though, really because advancing age has left me reasonably sober and in bed by the back of ten on a Saturday night.

The "he was entitled to go down" comments drive me insane but there's one reason I continue to tune in.
