Broon went on a signing spree after the Club 12 season, authorised by two DFCSS directors who were jointly running the club. They continued spending all through the summer, knowing they were going to lose the vote. The losses for that season were 800k, including replacing bomber with hartley. Can't remember that many signings under FPS/Hartley to push the bill up so where did the 800k loss come from? Dundee's losses under Brannan were always about 300k. Bit of a nonsense that FPS didn't have to pay any wages or bills having gained control, no? Or were you wanting DFCSS to remain in charge?

The two Dundee FC directors believed the fans would back DFCSS and reject FPS so one argument gone. For the record I was part of the revolt against the DFC / DFCSS board at that time as were all current incumbents (bar maybe one) so why you need to keep blaming DFCSS for that term is beyond me, it was the current DFCSS people that drove the change.

Pretty sure FPS hired Hartley and bagged the useless Brown; stretching it a bit to blame two guys that were long gone for that one.

Taintedice has a point about the financial situation facing DFCSS just before the investment from FPS. I think the fact that FPS did invest in the club was essential.

Taintedice has turned years of rumour / pub talk into fact, blaming DFCSS for everything from admin 2 to Gillie's transfer seems en vouge particularly with some posters on this forum. FPS came in at the right time to take the club forward, if they hadn't we'd be in a pretty grim situation right now I reckon.

That’s a weak response to Taintedice’s probable facts,

The DFCSS board tried to block the take over, I don’t know if you were part of that board, but McDonald and Forbes were happy for us to ride along as a club we were lucky to have, no matter what league it played in, or what ground they played out, they were happy to be sat in seats 1 & 2 in the directors box, and to hell with everyone else, both were big advocaters for fan ownership, only it wasn’t their money that bought the shares, it belonged to all fans who donated during admin

I thought that the DFCSS board tried to negotiate with FPS and when they had a proposal they took it to the members.

Top post Rross. I think the facts are very close to both viewpoints. I don't think McDonald and Brown had much of an option but to try defend the company that they were the directors of. In the end they got the A shares concessions that are the subject now of discussion on Pravda.
