Thread: Match Thread vs. Chesterfield 21.11.20 [NL]

Why is anyone celebrating this win. We have scraped a win with a dire performance which the radio commentators were clearly totally bored with, against a manageress side 3rd from bottom of the league. This win I believe is really damaging to the future of the club. If we truly had a side worthy of the budget and time put into it, with automatic promotion a realistic goal a 4-0 win would be the more acceptable outcome. Desperately sorry Ardley has escaped yet again, but his luck will run out at some point even though our promotion chances will have disappeared before he does.

Great great (but fortunate) win and hopefully gives us confidence to kick-on, because there seems to be little confidence on the pitch since the COVID break and the Maidenhead second half. This result does not make up for the last few but we may look back and say 4 points away at Halifax and Chesterfield turned the season around ....... or we may not. Something still needs to change - maybe the Manager, certainly something on the pitch but it is not many results since we won 3 on three on the trot and were starting to build, albeit only looking good (very good) for part of the games. Then COVID kicked us in the teeth - anyone who thinks that did not impact on the Maidenhead result and the ones since the break is deluded.

I don't think too many are celebrating this win in the sense, we know all it does is paper over the cracks for a while again in the sense. We know nothing has changed as such, performance, usual players I said on another fred that I would have took a defeat today IF it meant the end for Agent Ardley

Slate me all you want but you heard it here first
Hardly ground breaking. A number of us said as much on here over the last few weeks.
I don’t believe that the Reedtz brothers and Turner have had this conversation yet. They seem far to calm in demeanour to make a decision now. They are collectively far to professional to discuss with some gob ****e who would come on here and blab. So in that respect I call BS. However, the outcome you predict may well come true.

I'm celebrating it because I'm a Notts fan. I didn't buy the stream and it sounded poor, and like you I have no confidence in Ardley.

But if you can't celebrate a win with two stoppage time goals I don't know when you will celebrate!

Sorry, this is nonsense. As I have acknowledged as much as anyone throughout this thread, Notts were largely rubbish today, but the fact is, we won. When Notts win, I celebrate. I've been a Notts fan long enough to know you enjoy the wins regardless of how they come - we hardly win enough games to be picky!

I'm celebrating the win - I'm a Notts fan. Would have loved to be in that end when those late goals went in. I agree there are problems that need sorting and the football is not inspiring but to say Notts fans wouldn't celebrate a win is an odd thing to say?

So every month the owners wait, presumably the cost of changing managers diminishes. Obviously it's a balancing act for them. I would guess they're waiting until Christmas.
