You can't describe Vincent as a defensive player.
And there was no other midfielder on the bench. We were down to the bare bones - the squad is thin

Good call! We know he's been eating well after what he says about his wife's dinners on magpie circle

There you go then, problem solved! It would be a doddle for a player of his class at this level. The Don didn't just read the game, he wrote it!

I have. Playing Cameron in in a defensive midfield role would provide an extra defensive body who is still capable on the ball. Yet, some can’t see how it may work??

Maybe not, but he was playing there out of necessity tonight. Not amazingly, but he was there. When winning, I'm unconvinced that the right option was to remove one of two holding midfielders to bring on a winger. Simply bizarre management.

Because it’s not as easy as that. How many centre backs have you witnessed play in the holding role successfully? Please don’t use Ed Francis as an example as that really didn’t work.

The way Notts play Cameron would get crucified in midfield. Cameron is good in the ball because he does the simple stuff well and generally speaking play is in front of him. A luxury he won’t have as a midfielder. Nor will he get time.

If we are worried about extra defensive bodies why not just play an extra defender, eerrmmm as a defender?

I’m not saying it’s right, but I’m not saying it’s wrong. Was Vincent starting to feel the pace? Did Burchnall see bringing on a wide player with pace as a way to push them back or at least make them think twice about pushing on and leaving space at the back to exploit?

Certainly not the cagey 0-0 draw I predicted! Probably a fair result because both sides could have scored more. We had some good moments, but we looked really dodgy when they ran at us. I know it was a cobbled together centre midfield, but the combination of Francis, Brunt and Vincent is never going to work. The defence had very little protection from midfield, and Ruben (who looked a lot better in Eli's role) probably won more tackles than they did. Wootton didn't have a bad game, but offered no real goal threat. The disallowed penalty was right in front of us and thanks to the lino ended up being the correct decision. Jaros got to the ball first and their player fell over his arm.

Even though their ground is definitely non-league standard, I have to say the pitch was excellent. No excuses on that front.

Was it Gudjon who tried Mike Edwards in that role? Edwards was a really good centre back, but he wasn't a midfielder!

Why can’t you just raise your point without silly little comments, eerrmmm? No need.

I don’t think he would get crucified. He actually played for Torquay in midfield last season and did a pretty good job by all accounts. It doesn’t matter how many CB’s I’ve seen successfully converted to midfield, it’s can Cameron do it and does he make Notts stronger. It’s a discussion point.

In terms of playing an extra defender in defence, a lot of the talk is about about Notts needing more of a physical presence in midfield. It possible solution.
