Further First Minister’s update today. Surely tae christ they’ll be reducing the self isolation to seven days at the minimum. In contrast BBC reporting this morning that England expecting to stop automatic PCR testing following an LFT positive test and are still actively looking at five day self isolation.

I am at the stage now that i dread any further updates from the FM as its unlikely to be anything to cheer about.I'm going for vaccination no4 tonight unless she cancel's it.

That and the automatic (currently 10 day) isolation for household members regardless of vaccination status or test results. It's nonsense. Makes a complete mockery of the vaccination & testing process if we're going to pick & choose when to trust it. The country is grinding to a halt and its because of these rules that are being put in place.

Its a total power trip and there is no need for it - 1 person in intensive care in scotland (they are out now) since Omicron identified. Where the fvck do they make up the numbers and stats for venues - Jackies tombola?

That's not quite right, maybe in your health board? The latest published figure for 4 Jan there were 42 folk in ICUs.

I think he means with the Omicron variant, in which case, I think he's correct.

ICU cases from Omicron won't really be noticeable for a few weeks. The hospital cases have just started to go up. There is always a delay between the cases going up, to hospital cases increasing to then people going into ICU.

Cases should also take a big bump up in the next couple of weeks too now that the schools are back.

December’s government data projected that most covid cases in Scotland would be omicron from 20th December onwards. https://www.gov.scot/publications/om...vidence-paper/

On average if a patient is going to die from covid it takes 14 days from symptoms to death. https://assets.publishing.service.go...ntil_death.pdf

So the wave of deaths, never mind hospitalisations should be here by now if it was going to happen.

Rising “Cases” mean very little in light of immunity/vaccination levels amongst the vulnerable, and the less severe variant. We need to start seeing past this.

Are Scotland’s extra restrictions doing anything? Since we are having a surge on a par with England’s it would seem not.

Nicola is on a needless and useless nanny state power trip.

“Just 3 more weeks to flatten the curve” doesn’t cut it anymore.

The thing on deaths you have linked to is from October 2020, and i am wondering how relevant that is to what we are dealing with now and the tools we have to fight it?

Report on the BBC last night mentioned the percentages of people going into hospital now that are unvaccinated, and while i cannot remember the figures, they were eye watering!

I have my doubts that Nics restrictions have been heeded as much as she wanted as those that feel the need will still be in the pubs and gather in their own homes. On that note, i might not attend myself, but i do hope she lifts the football restrictions for those that want to!
