Ha ha, Mecca has just told me to do that exact thing with DUSF. I'm really not sure why folk feel this stuff can't be discussed in an open forum.

Its all this north korea type instructions and directions we are getting - its infectious. Opinion is outlawed mate and you must rise in unity at 8Pm thrusday clap like a seal and preferably bore every one of your contacts with posts about it and videos too. we should ban open forums and thought.

say it again consolidation, solidarity and transparency required. I used to contribute to them all then thought why, no one tells me anything really. I did AT for longest because of youth. We have a history of division within groups going back to 80s (maybe before but thats my recall) - maybe every team has?

i get the whole members must be told first thing from foundation and trust but then surely for transparency and the fact its to do with our club everything should be out in the open?

I was member of the trust for years then there was a really negative story in the press released by a certain individual posting on this thread. They were one of the board members of the trust at the time. The trust board's response was piss poor in my opinion and they haven't had a penny from me since (they asked and I told them why), how could I financially back an organisation when I don't trust the leadership? All very sad really but there your go.

I dont recall that story but that is very sad indeed. Its weird im keen to invest and support but i just dont trust/understand/know which one or what. I do contribute directly to kids season tickets with club direct but would love to support a federation or supporters united group.

There have been many new appointments to the ArabTRUST Board over the last couple of years now and the "certain individual" you refer to is definitely no longer actively or passively involved. Why would you not trust an organisation full of fellow committed arabs who volunteer to give time, energy, enthusiasm and work really hard to support our football club? They continue to promote & fund the new youth academy, run Tangerine Trading Posts, played a large role in collecting funds for Jim McLean Statue and are involved in lots of other partner initiatives at Tannadice with award winning DU Community Trust & DU Women's FC.

Finally you shouldn't believe every story you read in the press. There are are sometimes two or even more sides to every story.

I understand all that and I never say never but their judgement at the time was very questionable.

The concept of membership ballots is a good one. What's not so good is the fact any proposal just needs a majority to pass and be approved. So, for whatever reason (the cited one in this case being a split in the membership), the steering group has the subjective power to decide if they like it before it is put to the membership. This is a weakness as it will allow folk interested in power games scope to play them.

It's weird that the DUSF steering group are trying to put promotion of their organisation onto the club. I can understand them getting endorsement from the club but this seems more than that.

No way should DUSF be disclosing private schemes the club is thinking of implementing without their approval. I actually think this is pretty shocking as there was absolutely no need for it.

A couple of questions for DUSF:

Why do you need 'reserves' (does the foundation have significant on-going costs)?

How are you gong to invest the collected money now (I guess I've asked this a few times now and lack of a response suggests they don't know)?

Finally, a counter proposal that could have been put to the membership:

Give the club @pound;100k in these trying circumstances as an emergency source of funding, with no string attached. Members could look with satisfaction and and pride say they helped the club through what are unprecedented and difficult times.

Good post, echoes some of my thoughts/questions after reading their statement.
