Good effort for a flawed squad.
IB is an upgrade on NA...next season's squad and first team is probably going to be stronger
Not all doom and gloom
I've been watching the game rather than following this thread, but I made exactly the same comment.
Time and time and time again this season we've suffered counter attacks and goals arising from Doyle (and sometimes Reeves) giving the ball away in bad positions and converting attacking positions into defensive panic. The problem is, Doyle plays in the position that is supposed to provide a screen against such mistakes, but makes them himself, leaving our defenders completely exposed.
Top priority in the summer is to strengthen the midfield with a couple of aggressive, hard-running, defensively aware players who can do the bread and butter work and protect the defence, especially if we want to continue playing two full-backs as attack-minded central defenders.
There's genuinely much to like about the way IB wants us to play, and we are an improved side now compared with a few months ago, but we need to stop relying on old has-beens and add to the squad depth on the defensive side of the ball. If we do that, we can still retain the creativity IB has added to the way we play, but will concede fewer goals, win more close games and can be a serious title contender.
Today, ultimately, the team that performed best over the course of the season won the game, and good luck to them in the final. Having finished 2nd, they deserve the second promotion space.

Fair play Torquay, goes to show you can play anti football and still be successful, back to the drawing board again, no excuses today, we were not beaten by the better team we were absolute pants, defense is so porous and attack other than Rodders was useless...this one hurts so much because we had the beating of these but too much dead weight in this squad...there are at least 6 players I never want to see don a Notts jersey again... enjoy your weekend guys, at least you guys have England to look forward to![]()
If Torquay don't go up, I'd be after
their Captain Kyle Cameron. Absolute unit.
Oh well, unlucky guys. Over the course of a season you can't begrudge a team who finish 10 points ahead of you getting further than you.
Well done Torquay but boy am I gutted.
All through the game we were passing short and that enevitably was our downfall.
Never a penalty we all know but we have got to go through another season of this $hite.
