Absolutely a fair point. But they gave him Jarvis who, whilst not being a finished article, is the sort of player who might open up a packed defence with a good record. Maynard saw fit to leave it until there was sod all time to go to bring him on after which he was a genuine threat when we bothered to get the ball to him.

Not arguing at all with the criticism about the way SM deploys his players, I do think he gets into a "It'll come good" loop and hesitates far to long.

Out with a wimper rather than a bang is something most of us expected. Personally, I think we can do better than SM but I'm not sure the Broz will agree. We have improved our league position this year, after all. But with any sort of half decent form at the back end of the season, we could have done soooo much better.
