We know what it means Roles but the general public have a very different idea of what it means and I've come to think it works against us. The problem is that people won't read up on socialism and will probably not take kindly to being called ignorant for not doing so. I'm happy to ditch the terminology of it removes a very easy stick to beat us with

Well it certainly suits the ruling classes that people are more willing to believe them than think for themselves. Come on use your noggins folks and don't believe all the crap you hear...
Unfortunately in general human beings don't question things till its too late....they let others think for them and trust they will do the right thing for them.. unfortunately the thinkers are really only thinking whats good for themselves...

I think raging has a point roly
The media have waged a constant tirade subtle & subliminal & often blunt against the term socialism/socialist to the point where the word itself has become almost taboo
This has been going on for years & the start of the USSR was always adversely reported but little mention of life pre USSR which frankly was just as brutal. Read Ken Folletts Fall of Giants. Quite an eyeopener
Interesting the origin of the word Tory which is as follows
The word Tory derives from the Middle Irish word tóraidhe; modern Irish tóraÃ*; modern Scottish Gaelic Tòraidh: outlaw, robber or brigand, from the Irish word tóir, meaning "pursuit", since outlaws were "pursued men".
How many know that?
The labour party needs to think on

Sorry to bring this back to Coronavirus, but I keep hearing that BAME groups are disproportionally affected by he virus...14% of the population but 34% of the serious hospital cases.
I don't doubt this is true, but to lump everyone together who aren't the ethnic majority seems unhelpful at best, and dismissive at worst. Has anyone seen any figures broken down by ethnic group? I'm not affected directly but if I was I'd certainly want to know.
This is a censorship question worthy of its own thread in my opinion.
Animals & the coronavirus
Two Mink farms in the Netherlands, have been put into quarantine, after found to be infected with the new coronavirus, ( new ? ), The Agriculture Ministry said today, urging people to report any other likely cases in animals.
It seems a man took Trumps advice on disinfectant >
A man in Turkey died after consuming ethanol & disinfectant, in a attempt to protect himself against coronavirus.
People in neighbouring Iran already did dumb stuff like that before Trump's confusing speech.
