What's the R rate during the flu season, anyone know, anyone care?

When I get the cauld (a lot) I usually take a couple of weeks sometimes 3 to shake it off.

Mrs sunshine can say "I feel a cauld coming on" then announce its gone next day. Better immune system, more resilient, better lungs....who knows.

I've had the flu twice, both times horrendous, but the economy didn't shut doon.

Whilst em moaning......why hasnt south Africa, indian or Pakistan got millions dead if masks or social distancing so important?

When this first started the media were reporting that the townships and flavellas would become death zones....it hasn't happened.......yet if I want to touch a flag pole or have a pint with a pal or two or go for a half loaf without an astronaut suit on em gonna die and kill everyone's granny.

    It's bull
The R rate has never been mentioned during the flu season as it was not the ‘buzz’ word. I has only become fashionable to quote the R rate during the Covid-19 pandemic
It is possible that South Africa, India or Pakistan does not have millions dead because the life expectancy is a lot lower than in the UK and other Western countries.
It is a well known fact that most of the deaths have been amongst elderly people with other underlying health conditions.
I wish that Jason and Nicola would tell us at their press conference how many people in Scotland have died from Covid-19 who had no other underlying health conditions.
If I was one of the ‘trusties’ (journalists) permitted to ask a question that is the first question I would be asking.

If you want to accept a small risk....crack on.

R numbers, ie guessing, how many will be infected etc mean nothing.

How many are dying, how many are SERIOUSLY ill is what really counts....these numbers are now very very low but we are continually threatened with a 2nd lockdown.

I thought the lockdown was to save the national covid service, goalposts continually moved so our padantic leader can continue to have her half hour daily broadcast.

    As for DFC.

DFC should be asking what the protocol is if season is not finished (highly likely)...we can't have another situation where the playoffs are binned.
You’ll be in trouble with the poster Grantzer.

He’s full of facts....but won’t tell you any.

Islay , I think it’s about 2500 going by their standard method of measurement that are considered purely covid 19 deaths with no underlying, then there is the number with underlying and finally the excess at this period over a 5 year timeline, surprised that wee Nic keeps quoting the higher figure along with the dentist as I’m sure they are probably responsible for a large amount of the deaths after sending people from hospital to care homes ,it will be interesting to see what happens in Berlin in say a couple of weeks after the anti covid demonstrations last weekend...when it comes to journalists questions I’m pretty sure they’ll have to submit them first same with PMQ’s

Early finish at the golf today (No deaths to report) due to getting fed up getting blown a boot.

Caught Jason on the itv saying he was A political and the decisions were A political but if there was any politicking that was up to the first minister.......make of that what you want..........they are either political or they are not ...I think most suspect they are.

Then there was a woman at the end of reporting Scotland who was widowed due to covid. She was encouraging/pleading with people to wear masks.

She was sitting next o a bench which was in memory to her man....think he was 49.

The inscription read in "memory of big jim"....considering she was fairly wee and large em assuming big jim didn't relate to his height.

It's heartbreaking when anyone loses someone youngish BUT again the guy looks like he was well overweight......a mitigating factor in his death no doubt.

The preaching has to stop and Govts have really got to admit they got this badly wrong.

In my opinion we will never get any facts from Nicola because she likes to be on the limelight and holding daily press conferences on TV from Monday to Thursday suits her down to the ground.
No press conference on a Friday because the Scottish Parliament does not operate on a Friday. MSPs need a long weekend.

Those daily covid briefs are one of the most annoying things about this whole thing for me, they should have stopped months ago when it became clear we were not in the emergency situation with hundreds of thousands dying that was predicted. Not sure if it's every one but at least one day I saw it was live on BBC1, BBC2 and BBC Scotland channel simultaneously. Why? I personally don't pay a TV license to watch Nicola Sturgeon spout her total pish about what is now no worse than the annual flu outbreak.
