Even though I thought Wootton and Rodrigues were nowhere near their best today, I still think they are part of our best eleven. Sam has surprised me by offering more than I thought he was capable of in his last few games, and he needs to be kept involved to avoid suffering a loss of confidence. He's probably earned a place, but I don't know how we accommodate all three.

Based on today, drop Rodrigues. He did naff all.

We got what we deserved today, which was nothing. After a really good first 30 minutes where 3-0 wouldn't have flattered us, apart from a couple of minutes after they equalised Grimsby totally bossed the game. They dominated the midfield to the extent where it looked like they had an extra man. The only surprise was that it took them so long to score. I keep hoping that my view of the game is outdated, and that pretty football could succeed in getting us back to where I think we belong. Today, the pretty footballers were taught a lesson by the less technically gifted players who simply wanted it more. Burchnall has to shoulder much of the blame, because we offered pretty poor opposition for over an hour. After 30 minutes we had no shape or pattern of play, basically we were chasing shadows. Nothing that he did changed it at all, so my worry is that when the chips are down we're just not as good as some think we are.

Rodriguez looked slow and lethargic and disinterested, he needs dropping
Wootton was poor again
Brunt was awful, just floated around the midfield doing nothing. Palmer basically was on his own
Taylor failed to take advantage of oceans of space in the first half and was dire second half
Richardson was poor for his standards
In short the only players who can take any credit from today is Palmer and Roberts
Big Eli definitely deserves his chance and why has Vinny been dropped?
Grimsby outplayed, outfought and out thought Notts and totally deserved the win
We played some lively stuff for 25minutes but after that we didn't have a clue how to deal with Grimsbys energy and intensity
We will be lucky to get in the play offs

Wootton may as well as not bothered today. There are shades of Ardley about the way IB is with him. Regardless of performance he will always play the next match. Don't think we always help by never putting any crosses in for him today , but in general , seems to be off it.
I thought Eli did more in 20 minutes than Woots did in 90 but I think we know who will play on Tuesday.
Or has Big Eli's time finally come?
It was only a year ago that RR was in the same position.

I think this may be the first time I have agreed with Soccerman - drama queens!

Take a look at the table and tell me we're going to overhaul Stockport, Halifax, Boreham Wood, Chesterfield and Wrexham.
Are you confident that we'll finish above Grimsby, Solihull or Yeovil or Torquay.
I'm not, we're lightweight and any manager picking Brunt over Vincent deserves to at least have questions asked about him.

The past three results have been disappointing, but we need to find the answer within the squad - or add to it. The answer is not to call for the manager’s head every time we experience a bad run, because that is exactly why we’re in this league in the first place. The same way that when each of us has a bad day at work, we would expect some consideration and not to be fired at the first hint of trouble.

We have a young management team, young owners and a young squad. The most important thing is to learn from days like today. The biggest worry for me is that, over half a season in, we still don’t know the best way to consistently get the best out of a talented group of players.

Nothing wrong with the style of play - just need to be consistant and take our chances. Confidence is an issue at the moment for a few players as is bringing in loanees to replace good players who have done nothing wrong!. Too many cooks spoil the broth as they say! - as i said earlier, don’t disturb a well-knitted group by bringing in more loanees who frankly don’t give a **** whether we get promoted or not!.

Most teams have got us sussed apply pressure and we can't deal with it. We need steel in midfield.
