Last Wednesday 3rd September 2020 I sent an email to the secretary and chairman of Islay Community Council expressing my great concerns about the Covid-19 virus being introduced to Islay thanks to golfers travelling from mainland Scotland to play in this golf competition.
This morning (Friday), almost 48 hours later I have not received a reply from either of them to my email.
I find this very disappointing especially as a number of local residents on Islay are extremely concerned about the Covid-19 virus coming onto the island which has allegedly remained COVID-19 virus free to date.
Islay, correct me if i am wrong but i am sure that since lockdown you have posted that you have made trips to Dundee and then returned to Islay.

You say you sent an email to the the secretary and chairmain of Islay Community Council expressing great concern abouy covid 19 coming to Islay due to the golf tournament.

Are you not having great concerns that you could introduce the virus to Islay because you yourself have travelled from mainline Scotland as well?

Surely if your concerns were that great you should have stayed on the island??

But I do require one because I choose to comply with the law that states

'You need to be covered by a TV Licence to: watch or record programmes as they're being shown on TV, on any channel. watch or stream programmes live on an online TV service (such as ITV Hub, All 4, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Now TV, Sky Go, etc.) download or watch any BBC programmes on iPlayer'.

If you can manage just to watch only recorded programmes / movies / sport on CD or some other non live broadcast medium not covered by the above, or if you're happy to circumvent and to not be in compliance with that law then fill your boots, however I choose to watch TV live and therefore am legally obliged to hold a TV license for that purpose.

I hope my choice doesn't offend you.

I'm with you, I never get offended and leave that **** to others.

Can I assume you're not comfortable funding the BBC but are happy to watch its product when it suits? That's a bit like getting a sneaky in to Dens. Or are you going to say you never watch any BBC production?

Deeranged I just replied with a long winded post that somehow has gone missing ,basically no I don’t watch live tv only catch up on the laptop and that’s very rarely , the whole reality TV has boiled my piss with the Simon Cowells/eating kangaroo dick in the jungle and such like ,wasn’t having a go but I know loads of people who don’t pay it and are probably still watching it as you stated ,it’s going to get killed off anyway that’s my hunch after the new DG comments, my old man was a TV engineer in the 60’s/70’s with Watts/Largs and never had a license as he knew the detector vans were just vans, was the technology available to track an analogue signal then ...probably but the BBC weren’t paying it that’s for sure...

Don’t think it was anything to do with tracking signals.

A detector van couldn’t tell if you had a bit of paper in a drawer somewhere.

If you bought a TV you had to give your name and address (think you still might have to) and it was cross referenced with the TV licence authority and if one was registered at the address the tv was.

I also detest the Simon Cowell / I'm a celebrity despite doing nothing at all and being completely devoid of talent but my mum was a one hit wonder so get me tae fuucckk nonsense.

No issue with anyone not paying a TV license, that's their choice and to be honest I'd be amazed to hear of anyone that's ever been fined for not having a TV license unless they've been very gullible. I remember going to visit a mate in the early eighties, he wasn't in but his mother was - they only had a black and white TV. When I got up the stairs to the door there was a TV license guy trying to get into the flat saying he knew for a fact that she had a colour TV because the equipment in his van told him so he had the right under law to get into the flat to check. He got told to beat it in no uncertain terms but it's typical of the tactics they used then and probably still do.

By the way my father in law was a TV Engineer back then working for Largs / NBR I believe (was before my time with the dragon) so probably knows your old man. I know the detector vans were a sham, to be fair most people did.

British Relay totally forgot about them, they gave him magnetic signs that stuck to the doors of his Mk1 escort estate but never told him that you can’t go through car wash with them on ....!!!
