If I have to watch another season of Butcher Harkes and Pawlett I think I'm going to lose my sanity. It's eye bleeding football and it needs to stop. Giving the ball to the opposition every time we get it isn't the Dundee United I want to see.

We're a bit fortunate to be where we are right now because a couple of teams below us have underperformed this season. Next season we might not be so lucky.

This is a chance to get an inconsistent injury prone player off the payroll and use the money to improve the team. And we're not taking it? Disappointed doesn't begin to describe it. 👹 💩💩💩

I agree we should play hardball with any deal in this instance. That said though, creative midfielders are close to the hardest players to come by. Our options are all youth in this area.....I like that, but also don't want to see too much pressure on them.

I worry about his injury record and also his goal return has been poor, but an experienced head with exciting youth to back that up......maybe not a terrible option even if my, like most others, gut reaction is to want the wage recycled.

Hints at a surprising summer ahead, maybe not as interesting in incomings as we might hope though.
Playing hardball is booking a taxi, putting Peter in it and giving it an armed escort until it's arrived in Perth.

The thing is mate we all know the FN story if he goes to Perth he will be a resounding success that's the way it tends to work out.I have no problem with the player but signing him again in my opinion smacks of another season in survival mode.
Sorry Micky but we are looking for better than that now, thousands of Arabs have put millions into the club this season without getting to watch a game.
We do not have idea's above our station but another survival season is not on with the sacrifices we have made to back the club,if you think Peter Pawlett is worth another big contract and a hoose in Kingennie then you are at the wrong club because i can assure you i am not putting thousands into the club again if that's the level of your ambition,FACT.

    Agreed. FACT.
What was it the boy on Jambos kickback said.....I wish they'd let us back in so I could refuse to go!

Maybe I'll get over this but i doubt it. It gives a worrying insight into the world of TA and MM.

    "We are Dundee United"

Time to live up to the words.

I think Pawlett still has something to offer. He was a major catalyst in the upturn in our fortunes when he came in versus Motherwell away a few weeks ago and the subsequent wins. However, his injury record has been terrible for the time he's been here so we can't afford players like this.

The above sums up perfectly the way i feel about PP,as i said i have nothing against him and Terence is correct that he helped turn round an ailing tanker from Motherwell 2nd half onwards.
Its his age and his injury record that go's against him and i would prefer to see younger more energetic players in the first 11 next season.

I don't mind PP getting a new deal as long as it isn't a stupid long term deal we gave out to guys like Connolly and Clark.

Pawlett signed for united when he wasnt fully fit and had the expectation to be the player he was for one season at Aberdeen. He kept picking up silly knocks and RN never played him in his preferred position most of the time. He also had the knack of always being rushed too quickly back into the team after an injury. PP's game relies on space to drive into, in the championship we would have teams set up with everyone behind the ball with no space for PP to get on the ball and drive at defences.

I think lock down helped him get fit and maintain a decent fitness level without getting injured all the time and came back at the start of this season looking better. Was able to last 90mins and was getting stuck in more. The first 2 months of the season he was decent I thought. MM has played him more central which suited him better than getting chucked out wide. He made a big difference v Motherwell 2nd half then County away which started our survival form. I think playing him as no.10 would be best suited in the Premiership as teams wont be sitting back as they did in the Championship.

I would like to see us sign him up for another year. He gives us something that not many players have in our team. He's a ball carrying midfielder, Yeah he doesn't do it enough but I don't think RN then MM played him in a role that allowed this as much.

He does offer something different, but we should be taking the opportunity to use the wages and get an upgrade on a similar style player. When every penny is a prisoner we have to be ruthless and can’t afford to have a bit part player on the bench on decent wages the manager doesn’t regularly play anyway.

He shows flashes but far too inconsistent and injury prone, flatters to deceive (prone to a dive too). Goes without saying, i’d Still be playing him ahead of Clarke in midfield for reasons mentioned- his ability to join/link the attack.

The squad still needs the upgrade it was due last summer.

I Agree we should be looking to improve on the squad but I think he has improved this season compared to the previous year and a half and because of that I would like to see him given a one year deal. He doesn't merit anything more but what I would like to see is MM use him as a no.10 more. Thats where he is best and his attributes are best suited as a no.10 in the prem compared to the champ.

My worry is we give him a 2 year deal. We seem to hand them out stupidly. Connolly and Clark are the examples. 2 guys who arent even getting in our team anymore. Liam Smith more understandable.
