There are no guarantees that Assombalonga, or anyone else we might be able to get, would be better than Gray - their records are fairly similar - but we need to realise that these types of player are as good as it's going to get for us.
    oh dear....that's so depressing Prim.

I wonder which side Britt will be on on July29th. Of source he might be on neither.

I'd lay off the "sauce" oldcolner. I'm sticking with my Assombalonga coming to Burnley mantra. Hic!

....outside of the relegated - we were the lowest scoring team in the PL.

...but we had a solid enough defence to balance it out - Just.

So - what of this time around....will we be as solid at the back ?......would we want to rely on that iffy possibility - or is it more sensible that we at least attempt to build a strong attacking Threat...naturally they wouldn't necessarily have to score game after game......it being also about their level of Threat - the higher that is - the better for us....and the more of a headache for them.
It would be laughable to enter another Premier league season without it - IMO.

    Cheers.

I'm not sure why the club are getting any stick at all over this, if indeed they are. We have a pretty good record with the strikers we've signed, Charlie, Ings, Barnes, Vokes and Gray, all of them done as well or better than we could have expected. It's not the club's fault that Gray struggled at PL level, or that he won't sign a new contract, or that there's an auction for Asso. All of this is fairly normal for this time of year, the time to moan is if it hasn't been resolved by the back end of August.

I'm not sure what you find depressing.

Nobody is saying that we couldn't do to score more goals, but we can't just go out and buy someone who is guaranteed to score more than our strikers did last season. I think we need more goals from midfield, hopefully Brady and Walters (if he's played there) should be able to provide some of them.

Initially I was for walking away from this deal, but seeing as we actually have more money than we can spend, and especially as it's Boro, I'm hoping we go for it. Paying a few million more is irrelevant in our financial situation, just need a bit of creative accounting to accommodate him in our wage budget, and it's a good signing for us and a bloody nose for Boro. And it surely ensures Andre gets the move he desires. Win-Win-Win, what's not to like ?
