Not sure if the players are so good at seeing the pass though Ronners, even when there is one on. It's either they can't see it, or they don't have faith they can make the pass without risking losing possession so they tend to play safe. Could be that they are drilled to not take chances and keep possession, building slowly. And in fairness that is restricting the chance of quick breaks against us when we do lose it.
You get the experts on the tv saying the same, “ why no forward pass”
When they do and the pass fails it sparks off a 10 minute post-mortem of the “ mistake”
So players play safe and pass sideways and backwards
Very good players have a higher forward pass attempt rate. I reckon Messi managed his high goal tally due to Iniesta’s passing
I do think that ,as you say, they dont have faith in making the pass so they play the safe option, but in tight games surely someone has to take control. The flip side of that is that southgate is so defensive minded that there is usually no creative midfielder in the starting line up, like in the Germany match, so we rely on players like Sterling to drop deeper for the ball, and run at the opposition, because we have nobody capable to play them in, and they then come on for last 30 mins when either we are chasing the game, or looking to nick it, instead of starting the match and trying to dominate it. I'm going to support Ukraine.
We owe then one after our betrayal of the Lienz cossacks (as seen on GoldenEye).

Our eldest thinks I'm the most pessimistic bloke he knows but I've got a bad feeling about this one. I reckon the Ukrainians will be cynical and try to get one of our players sent off with play-acting. I'd be delighted to be proved wrong and for Sterling to score a hat trick because we all knew he'd be the man that did it for us right form the start of the tournament, didn't we?
Czech R v Denmark
Thought I would tune in to the ITV coverage, about 25 minutes to kick off.
At first I thought I had chosen the wrong channel, all they were talking about was Raheem’s struggle against racism.
Don’t they ever ****ing stop with the brainwashing?
It’s Czech R v Denmark ffs, nothing to do with Sterling whatsoever, let alone preaching on racism.
