Unlikely. The folk that really hate her, have at least a 25 year head start on her

Depends on if her real haters are actually human beings at all. I have my doubts.

Ah, so its only old people who didn't like Sturgeon is it?

It must have been the ultra cool young and trendy image she created.

The Chancellor's budget was truly remarkable yesterday.

That he found time to mention funding for a bridge in Scotland that is barely on a B road.

Pork barrel politics are at work here.

They are absolutely naked in their contempt for the Scottish electorate.

Any funding available for a major upgrade to the A83 at Rest and be Thankful?

No. I thought not. That'll be for wee nippy to open the purse strings.

Isn’t the difference though that the bridge near Lossie is a non-trunk road, ie the responsibility of Moray Council rather than a component of the trunk road system, and as such funded, one step up, by the annual allocation of funds to local authorities by Holyrood? I understand from reading the Budget coverage that the offer is based on match-funding with Elginshire (for that is what it is) asked to find the cash to fund 50%. It’s tory cynicism for sure, but there are parts of NE Scotland that feel exploited as cash-cows (oil revenue, excise duty etc) wholly neglected by both governments who fund their pet projects in their favourite geographical and politically-advantageous areas.

I agree on Norway’s pro-active approach to infrastructure, and was always grateful for that short tunnel on the road from Ålesund to Mandalen, but I’m sure it’s well-known that the A83 is part of the Transport Scotland/Aimey-maintained trunk road system, and has been Holyrood’s responsibility since 1999, and in the current party of government’s portfolio of powers for 16 of those 24 years. They’re still “consulting” on a number of possible solutions. It’s not in Ayrshire, it’s inertia. And incompetence. And fecklessness.

    And that’s fit I think.

It was Alesund I worked in. Beautiful place, shame the Brits abroad ran riot through it.

It's a problem that is going to take funding that no regional government could afford with their pocket money finances.

Of all the infrastructure projects that are needed across Scotland, why pick THAT one to announce by fanfare in your budget?

You expect ME to understand the warped psyche of anyone associated with the Conservative Party? I’ve given up telling the impertinent shargers who call me a “red tory” that I was fighting (occasionally literally) Tories when they were still louping palings in their grandas’ breeks. I assume it was an attempt by Hancock to embarrass the Scottish Government by pledging small coinage. Nobody beyond Lossie will care.

Not much sign of the A96 being dualled though. Aberdeen fans won’t be thankful that that election pledge has been kicked into the gasworks when they have to try to get to Dingwall for a Friday nighter next month.

    Fûck the SPFL.

    Fûck sattelite TV.

    Fûck lying b*stard governments.

    Here endeth today’s lesson.

I worked in Norway for years. If there was a road like the Rest & Be Thankful over there, they would’ve tunnelled right through it years ago. It would be nice to have control of your own spending projects but apparently we need people to make these decisions on our behalf

I see there’s controversy over the number of members in The Party which will be the constituency for the leadership election. It’s already underway and McPickles and the NEC are in a guddle about it.

They should just hold a census.

    Oh, hang on….
