A brief mention in the live updates and then forgotten. Wow.
What does this tell us about the media?

It's because once they have a story arc they ignore events that don't fit. The Canadian guy at about 10:00 explains it pretty well.

Out of curiosity BFP, what concrete action would you have liked Johnson to take today?

    He could have started by implementing some of the recommendations of the Lammy(that name will trigger a few) Review , a summary of which can be found here;

    http://www.russellwebster.com/lammy-review-final/

You must know as well as I do that having yet another Commission/Inquiry/Review is just a way of kicking the can down the road, and a great way of avoiding further difficult questions about race. You may know as well that Johnson announced his new commission in the Telegraph this morning, along with some nonsense about protecting Churchill’s statue. From far right yobbos pissing on it presumably.

Of course white people get aggro. Is it cos they is white? Unlikely I’d think, but possible I suppose. It was classic whataboutery to bring it up in that debate we were having because some black people undoubtedly do get a raw deal from the police, the research has been done and the evidence has been gathered.

On the subject of what we were talking about, I’d be the last person to ask anyone to suspend their critical faculties. Personally I would want to read a wide range of opinions before deciding the merit on such a wide ranging campaign as BLM. I still may not be happy with their stated aims, but I would hope I would have a better insight into how the people directly involved could have access to justice and equality.

Talking about 'things Canadian'........... EU crumbles today and confirms a Canada style agreement will be negotiated with us and ratified before December 31st. There was always going to be a deal when you have a proper negotiator in charge and prepared to say F'coff if we didn't get what we wanted. As Driller says, hardly a murmur from our unbiased media ....... probably a few red faces among the Left's propaganda machine (BBC) as well. I wonder what objections Maitlis will opine tonight .... if she's on?

I thought you said you were away until the first week in July? Maybe you're just back on here to 'test your eyesight'!

Don't be so sure, it's not done by a long way and alot of the most important things like fishing are miles off agreement. The EU isn't dumb, they will **** us over for themselves all the way and why not, we chose our self inflicted descent back to being the poor man of Europe. I also can't wait whilst Trump ****s us in the other hole for the USA best interests. We really are ****ed you know but you'll never admit it even when it's plain to see as that would mean admitting you were stupid. Thanks though for leaving the next few generations though to deal with your rose tinted vote for the good old days of empire!

Now the world is our market place we are competing with Asia, Africa and China who will all make things far cheaper than we can and all have natural resources. I'm really struggling to see where you think all this money we're going to make is going to come from seeing as most now comes from the EU.

It's ok though as the whole world is queuing up to get a deal with us. Or is that just bull****. With Covid then Brexit the future economy of this country is looking very bleak.

Update Driller; Johnson’s new ‘Commission’ is being set up by a No 10 adviser. I’m shocked.

Well I'm sure he'll have focus grouped the bejeezus out of it.

About Lammy's recommendations - you said some should be implemented. Could you give examples of one you really like and one you don't? Or at least one to implement straight away and one that you think can wait?

As regards stats and whataboutery - were you aware of those cases before Dam posted them? I wasn't. Can you name any other white people shot by US police? I can't.

How many cases of police brutality against black people are you aware of? I can name a few off the top of my head and am vaguely aware of a few more. I also have the general impression that for the last few years we have been in the middle of a spate of police on black shootings.

How many fatal shootings by police do you think there are per year in the US? Of these, How many do you think are of white suspects and how many of black suspects? What proportion do you think would be proof of institutional racism rather than a willingness by police to use firearms across the board?

I'm asking you these things not to catch you out exactly, but to see if the perception you have is correct. Mine wasn't.
