Lopato gone , Shepherd on his way , Jame"s spreadsheet signings in the summer looking good !!
Not to mention Ollie Shaw from 12 months ago .
I've said it before and I'll say it again , selling our best players isn't the problem , we all know that's going to happen .
However we never learn when it comes to replacing them .
Happened under Hecky , happened under Stendel , it happened last summer and it will happen again too .
The only difference is that at least previously we did spend decent money on players from the proceeds .
Now we don't spend anything at all and yet somehow we are miraculously going to be successful .
Reading this transfer thread isn't exactly tantalising my taste buds. Exciting times is this.... apparently
Indeed. We’ll always be a selling club because that’s our way, players can use us as a stepping stone and other clubs can blow us out of the water with wages.
As you say though, our replacements haven’t been good enough in the main. I think Pines and Earl are a step in the right direction. We had a decent January last season too. It appears it’s the summer window where we need to step it up.
Jack Shepherd signed for Cheltenham on loan.
Styles loaned to Sunderland with buy option
Callum Styles has left Barnsley for Sunderland on loan with an option to buy in the summer.
The 23-year-old Hungary international has been keen to move to the Championship as he looks to keep his place in the national team ahead of this summer’s Euros.
The move was complicated by a recent illness for the midfielder.
Styles has played more than 150 games for the Reds, since signing in 2018, including 20 in League One this season, with three goals.
The Reds are thought to have pocketed a loan fee which they were hoping to put towards new signings.
Interim director of Football, Bobby Hassell, told the club website: “Callum expressed a desire to leave the club and play at a higher level in the second half of this season.
“We respected Callum’s wishes, which we felt was beneficial for all parties as we look to push on and achieve our goals for this season at Barnsley.”
We wish Callum the best of luck in his loan spell.
