I recall Curle giving quite a pointed (pre/post match Tuesday night?) interview bemoaning the fact that Trew would not dish out on another forward. The sacking came not long afterwards.

Wasn't there an unwritten rule that if you lose against Hartlepool you're out!

If I recall it was Jason Scotland that was coming in. He turned up for negotiations and was offered something like £200 a week.

    Went to Barnsley instead.

    I agree regarding Curle.
A lot of fans didn’t want him and that was compounded when he took the shirt off Hughes who was untouchable.
The football wasn’t exciting but we were holding our own as a league 1 club.
Trew came out and said he had to let him go because fans were voting with their feet.
I think part of the problem at that time was a lot of our fans still couldn’t accept the Munto era had been a sham, and felt they’d been robbed of our impending glory days.
Flirting with the playoffs in league one just wasn’t going to cut it.

Classic Trew to respond to a drop in attendances by sacking a decent manager and replacing him with Kiwomya, who besides having zero experience, seemed like he genuinely didn't want the job.

I certainly wasn’t a huge fan of RT but what was he supposed to do?
Attendances were falling because fans didn’t like Curle.

Maybe don't replace him with Kiwomya and start a death spiral that resulted in relegation? It was a ridiculously poor decision.

Curle's record since leaving Notts would suggest he was never going to cut it at tier 3 level, he rode the good feeling created by Martin Allen (who'd taken us from relegation certainties into play off contenders in the space of 6 months) before it became obvious he was going to bore us to mid-table death without being heavily backed. The mistake was not replacing him with a proper manager.

We had a good away record under him. But Curle insisted on playing the same system at home, which was defensive and boring. We didnt manage to pick many home points due to this tactic . Thats why the supporters turned their backs on him..

I shudder when I read through the names of some of the managers we have had since Warnock was sacked with the odd notable exception.

The ownership of the club at the time had no footballing plan on how they were going to grow the club. It was a scattergun approach with managerial mistake compounded by a further mistake until the money ran dry.

Give me what we have now every single day of the week.

What!! The plan was "Championship in 5 years", or at least that is what both RT and AH told us. They should have said "Championship in 5 years or Bust"
