Then maybe they need to open their eyes and look at who is really appropriating all the nation's wealth and who they are voting for and join the dots. A few people desperately trying to claim asylum isn't causing the chaos. But of course some multibillionaire media moguls would have you believe that.

According to government figures up to the 3rd October those few as you call them totalled over 33,000.
With a country on its knees like ours struggling to see a doctor/dentist or get an operation or are trying to get somewhere to live. etc. it's no wonder ordinary folk complain.

And, the most recent attitude survey (unfortunately I can't find the link) shows that people recognise that the Uk has a resposibility in International law to accept aylum seekers, not do what this government has done, close down all legal routes. They also recognise that immigration is good not only for the economy, but also the culture of the country.

Immigration is fantastic for this country I am all for it but I am a bit old fashioned in that I would like to know who is coming here. Just recently there have been many Albanians coming here via the channel? I didnt know there was a threat to live over there?

Immigration is a net gain and helped us build a good economy as part of the EU. We should always help asylum seekers but have made it so hard to get here legally that no wonder they try illegal ways to cross. 33,000 are not causing our economy to tank, that's the idiots in charge. Maybe they could get the massive corporations to pay the right amount of tax or stop wasting millions giving their mates contracts for things that either don't work or aren't needed. So the poor get poorer and the rich get richer, the gap widens but it's all down to 33,000 immigrants. Ok then. As for seeing doctors and dentists plus let's include the nurses who Coffey is driving away, if you don't make it worth their while for them to work for the NHS instead of privately then what do you expect. Alot of these people have gone to study for years, often coming out with massive debt. To end the Nursing bursarys was absolute madness, you've probably stopped another 40,000 nurses there from applying as who has 8 grand laying about then can work for free in cost of living. As Frenchmagpie says, anyone who believes the right wing crap and the daily hate is too far down the rabbit hole.

    On that note:

The UK now has a record number of billionaires with 177, according to the new Sunday Times Rich List.

That's up six from 2021 - and the combined wealth of the UK's billionaires stands at £653bn, up more than £55bn (9.4%) on the total wealth of the billionaires in last year's Rich List.

The London-based Hinduja brothers, Sri and Gopi, and family are the richest people in the UK with a £28bn fortune, which is up more than £11bn on last year.

It is the biggest fortune recorded in the 34 years of publication of the Rich List.

Overall, the richest 250 people in the UK this year are worth £710.723bn, compared to £658.089 billion in 2021, an 8% rise on last year.

It comes as typical UK households come under increased financial pressure from inflation, which struck a 40-year-high of 9% in April.

Meanwhile, Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty made the list for the first time, as their joint £730m fortune put them at number 222.

So Rishi and his wife only have £730 million, which doesn't even put them close to the top 200. It's blatantly obvious that the rich are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer.

No problem, let's blame those bloody scrounging immigrants instead!

So those 33,000 cost less than £100m per year in support. 24% of them fail their asylum claims - maybe the dubious Albanians you quote. The others are determined as genuine and go on to build lives and pay taxes in UK. If they earn minimum wages when they start working they will pay back their support and contribute to healthcare etc. as any other citizen. Mybe it is a one-child policy that you advocate ?

How much do you think dodgy PPE contracts and Test & Trace cost UK ?

I am not blaming immigrants I was trying to point out that when a country is having problems many people look for a scapegoat and unfortunately at the moment apart from blaming a useless government which we have immigration often gets the blame. This is not just a UK problem the Italians have elected a right wing government, Le Penn in France vastly increased her vote and Germany is having problems.
Sadly immigrants usually bear the brunt.

In that case, maybe those "ordinary folk" should look at whether it's the 33,000 are leeching the cash, or whether it goes a fair bit higher up.

Do you honestly think any government whether Labour, Tories, Lib dems Greens or who ever will stop those that are leeching cash? Because it has gone on for hundreds of years.
