No problem snapping up promising youngsters from elsewhere but spending a lot of money to do it is a big gamble when you have a limited budget - even if it ends up say £200k that’s likely to be a fair chunk of our summer budget for a guy who won’t get in the team. Is he better than the young lad dean Campbell who we already have?
There is no way that AFC would have offered Ferguson a contract without having considered and discussed any development fee with Hamilton. £500K is fanciful tosh IMHO. I think the very best that accies could hope for from a tribunal would be around £150K.
Hamilton accepted a pittance for Greg Docherty who was a much more established first team player and he had >2 years left on his contract. Going by the internet bampots, that pittance hasn't even been paid yet.
McDonald contributed the square root of feck all in the two play off games v Livingstone. He is done.
If Ferguson has inherited something from his gene pool then here's hoping we've got a player. The moaning minnies can't have it both ways. The club cannot be criticised for failing to look at young Scottish talent instead of league one Englishmen and then be castigated for not bringing through our own youth when we do actually sign a Scottish youngster.
Will Docherty and Jack have a future at Ibrox?
500k they can soon plums for that amount £75k and be happy. Actually invest that 75k in some proper grass.
It will be no where near £500 k given his age and games played.
Agree on McDonald - I thought he might’ve been worth a punt last year but over the hill now.
I don’t think anyone’s moaning about looking at other young Scottish players if they’re better than the ones we already have at the club - issue is that paying money for them is more of a gamble than putting the same money into a player with some proven experience. If it goes well it will be a great bit of business though.
If Ferguson’s inherited some playing ability that’ll be good, hopefully he’s not inherited the fudness as well.
