What utter tosh about Lansbury. You were prepared to bid 3.5 M for him, well under contract.
Villa got him for 3M when his contract had nearly gone.

    Whose the fool here?
I said earlier we made some laughable bids for Lansbury and we did, but it's my understanding that we got there in the end. We had agreed a fee, Lansbury had accepted our offer, £18k a week, and he was at Turf Moor on the verge of signing when your owner pulled the plug on the deal. If I remember right this was at the end of the January window, not the end of the summer pantomime season.

Of course I can't guarantee the above is 100% accurate, but I know the source is very well-informed and usually reliable.

How do you know Gray leaked it to the press and they didn't just make it up, which is probably more likely? Keane made it quite clear we couldn't meet his demands as well.

And at least Gray didn't pick up a mystery "injury" keeping him out of the last few games...

If there was any possibility that we could have got for him what we got for Keane, I think he might have done.

One has already jumped ship for more money, the other one has strapped his lifebelt on in readiness to leap, I can't see any difference in the two seemingly identical mentalities really...

    eh?

you have done nothing but unsettle previous players, then put in derogatory offers. If you are serious then negotiate with a bit more sensibility.
It isn't hard. You want to sign a player with over 3 years of contract left, yet bid way under what others are prepared to pay. I have told you the price wanted before anything is considered. Thats even dependent on the player wanting it.
We bought a league one player for 5.5 million, rising to 8 with add ons.
Madness people screamed. Yet here is the proof of his ability. So BFC, bid 8 M lol
