It's been an OK window, but with glaring omission up front, where we look really weak and lacking in options, I see it as a major flaw in our team, as highlighted on Sat by the inability of Smith/McNulty to get behind the Hearts defence or win headers.

We've not seen enough of Dylan Levitt to assess him. Remember we're not the only team looking for a creative mid. I didn't see Baningime (we were after him) nor Haring splitting our defence. Hearts had two widies tho, Smith & Halliday, who stretched the play a bit. I was glad to see Mochrie get a start (& indeed 90 mins) but with the benefit of hindsight Butcher (not 100% fit for a start tho maybe??) might have been better alongside Levitt. However the new Jimmy Gomez, Jeando Fuchs, was there which was a blessing. Levitt played in the Euros this year, only man on the pitch to do so, even if it was 4 minutes.

OK so we've replaced LS with nobody, we've replaced MM with MM, we've replaced JR with someone who MIGHT be better, we've replaced our 2nd choice goalie with admittedly a better 2nd choice goalie and we've brought in a young laddie from Man Utd who now at a young age must deliver every week to create for the forwards - nae pressure...oh and another centre half in CM who I do rate but a wage at the expense of a player in a position we needed more.

Sorry but I'm totally underwhelmed by our business in the transfer market. Courts keep telling us that a club of our size should be competing for top 6...well our recruitment isn't showing any real ambition for that imo,we needed another striker and a ball playing midfielder but it's not happened.

I assume that was aimed at me.

I'm not assessing Levitt's ability, albeit I do think it's going to take a good run of games for him to find his feet at this level as he looked fairly lost vs Hearts. I've already stated I thought he was excellent vs Saints. I'm saying I don't think he's quite the creative/attacking midfielder we crave. He seems to want to sit a little deeper and spray it long. He's certainly been played deep in the past. Courts may push him forward once Butcher & Fuchs are beside him however, so who knows.

We've kept on to Fuchs, Siegrist, and Edwards extended, so from that perspective it was good, will have to wait and see how the new signings fit in, a lot of hopes being pinned on the Finnish winger. Maybe Aperre can come in add something different up front (not sure what his injury is), but jury still out on him at this level, and maybe we can find the balance with some youngsters and new signings that will get us up the park more. We really needed something different up top though, Shanks, Clark and McNulty all suffered last season through a lack of service and being similar strikers who rely on getting the service rather than having the physical attributes to create for themselves and bring others into play.

C'mon Reverand IM Jolly - a week tomorrow and you will be watching Idles in fatties

Yes all ifs and buts. We also got our two footed winger - just not the work permit DOH!

We need a striker and if Levit isnt the creative mid which appears to be the case) seems like the kids will have to do.

So all in all we are still a striker and CM playmaker down.

At least we held on to Benji,Fuchs and Edwards but we haven't really improved anything.
We've definitely got a better second choice goalie and Mulgrew is a definite improvement at centre half. 🤔

spot on, we have a very strange business model atm. Putting up the prices at the gates whilst not improving the squad doesnt make sense to me, we are hardly enticing people to to pay to watch the team which i think was evident based on how empty the stands were for the hearts game

Those of a positive mindset will argue that we have improved the squad overall.
They'll tell you we have a better GK reserve and a new CB upgrade with the addition of Mulgrew. They'll also tell you we've strengthened midfield with the addition of Dylan Levitt and a flying Finnish winger still waiting on a work permit.
I'm disappointed we haven't offloaded some fringe players in this window to create spare payroll.
The squad remains low on real quality in certain positions. We have five (5) CB's (and according to certain posters L Smith can also fill in there &#128526 but we have two lightweight strikers. Don't see many goals between the 2 of them.
If we can add a free agent striker I'd be just about happy overall but still a bit underwhelming if we really do harbour top 6 aspirations.

Just seen this after my last post. A level headed assessment.
