I fully expected a thread just like this with the usual 'rumour and innuendo', guesswork and big statements. I just didn't predict it would be as early as mid-August. NCM is on fire and I've not even been on my summer holiday yet.

Sorry, forgot to ask your permission. That's exactly what it is and what it should be taken as, rumours and gossip. For the record I know nothing about the goings on inside NCFC and nor do I claim to. I just simply pass on info given to me by someone who knows people who are close to the club and it should all be taken with a huge punch, (not pinch), of salt. If it upsets your delicate sensibilities, I suggest you skip over the aforementioned posts in the same way that most posters do with yours.

Doesn’t bode well either way. Our star summer signing not even making the bench?

Black clouds on the horizon if you ask me.
Makes you wonder. Anyone can say in an interview, ‘yep I’m fine with signings being based on stats etc, rather than blokes who for instance played with me before’, it’s whole different thing when you’ve actually got the job, and are watching them train and picking the team yourself.

I found Burchnall’s sidelining of Taylor, Nemane and especially Vincent bizarre, and already I’m bemused at the team selections this season. If O’Brien and Francis make up our best current starting XI I’m a Frenchman. If they start on Saturday, we’ll lose.

As a side note, my lad went to the FGR v Lincoln game on Saturday and he reckoned FGR played more long balls in one game than we did in the whole of last season.

They're insisting they need to be from their list, and to fit their model.

That wouldn’t surprise me. The owners model is clearly to take players that have the potential to be sold in the future. If LW is rocking up to the player recruitment meetings and is suggesting some 32 year old player, I can’t see them agreeing it.

It could also explain why JOB is starting as LW wants some experience on the pitch.

Last nights post match presser was complete chalk n cheese to previous. Pretty much every one prior to this one he had expressed some disappointment in performance.

But most seem to think Baldwin is a decent signing? I would say the double signings from Kiddy and Gateshead are decent and will work out, TAR is a strange one if it doesn't work out and its one out of 6 then I wouldn't be too unhappy. Clearly we need a centre mid, we need a strong leader in there and who can get about their players and ours and that's probably where the owners need to spend some proper cash even if there's no long term return. Both WB areas are of slight concern too if we are to continue playing this way. It does appear the club want to bring a couple in and the right ones, it's a probably a case of seeing who's out of favour higher up the league now it has started and if they come available.

No need to apologise Gumpy, you've just misinterpreted one of my posts again, and so soon after the last one. I will make it simple for you if I ever want you ask for permission for anything (and its very very unlikely), I will use that exact word so you can't make the same mistake for a 3rd time.

Not sure how you interpreted my post as being "upset", try amused instead. I love the rumour and innuendo, so keep passing them on, same with the transfer rumours from ITK that a select few got upset about when they didn't happen as suggested. However I love it when someone takes the rumours on here seriously or as fact, even more Thanks for spelling it out for others#pinchofsalt

Like I said we all know it's coming just didn't predict it to be quite this early in the season. Although that's to be expected because unlike like season, my predictions are all a little off to date.

I can’t see us now making any signings other than loan signings, when the window shuts.

It's always good to get snippets, I'm struggling to believe he was hauled in regarding the BW interview, it was very tame and just said he was very frustrated we chucked away the lead twice and we all were too. Couldn't comment too much on last nights interview, but I get the feeling he thinks Gateshead are going to be a decent side and was happy in the fact we just didn't roll over, yes we are Notts County and on the face of it you would want us to roll them over, but I think we have all seen enough results for a lot of teams in the division over the past 3 seasons that don't make sense, but the reality is this is lower level football and it happens.
As for them not wanting managers players, as it's been explained before and in the case of Baldwin is that the recruitment team will investigate players recommended by the manger. If they and the owners don't believe it's right, then so be it, it's the model/strategy and they will live or die by it.

They wanted to sign Ellis though? but he wanted to stay in the league. I don't think its "potential" players only, the owners aren't stupid.

Interesting indeed if true. And also a bit ironic given that most people found his honest approach quite refreshing after Birchnall.
