If anyone deserves a big move, it's Macca. He's a cracking lad with a great attitude.
I agree with this. If the money and timing is right, then he should be allowed the move. It’s the model we have in place. It sends out a message to any prospective targets higher up the leagues that coming to us can be a positive to get a players career back on track.
What I love about Macca is that he recognises that Notts took a chance on him and helped put the spot light on him. He was never mentioned in footballing circles when he scored a load of goals for Gateshead in NLN. Notts did and now his scoring feats are in Notts history.
If we go up do we think we could keep hold of him? It would certainly raise the price tag.

I think he'll be playing in the Championship whether we get promoted or not. No way we'd be able to match the wages of a Sunderland or Middlesbrough, and no way Macca should turn down a life-changing offer if it comes his way. A three-year contract on 15k a week and you're in a great position.

This is where I’m at. I can’t see us letting Macca go this month unless it’s something ridiculous that the club can’t turn down. We’ve got this season to sort out first and this team’s odds of getting promoted are much better right here and right now with Macca in the team scoring goals.

The summer is a different time. Macca will have been at the club two years and whilst he's earned the move to the championship already for a player the best time to make the step up is in the summer like Rodrigues and Wootton did before. It also means he will probably get more offers and Notts will also have more players available to choose from as well. I’d imagine we will already have our targets in mind.

In the meantime let’s enjoy the king of meadow lane as someone once called him while he’s still here with us wearing the black and white stripes.

I think we can see the modus operandi of the the senior management at Notts. If we have an asset that could be tempted away, the club gets them to sign a long term contract. It's a bit of a risk, because if their 'market value' falls we're stuck with them, but if they carry on progressing, we get a transfer fee/on sell percentage or compensation if they leave Notts.

Agree. Assuming he's sold sometime this year, what we do with that money is pivotal to our progress. We'd be in a much better position to recruit replacements and reinforce the squad in the summer. I'd hate for us to sell him this week and then blow the money on a bunch of panic signings before transfer deadline day. I'm sure our owners are too smart to do that.

Enquiries made for a loan move for Man City U23 player Kian Breckin

If we sold him this week that's basically telling the fans we're not bothered about promotion this season. Then you'd see a drop off in the attendances and also a slide down the table. We're only just hanging onto the play offs as it is. The owners are too smart for that I'm sure.

I just read that Wrexham are going to be putting in a bid and believe it to be £1.5m

I’d like to think there’s an outside chance we could keep him but I think we’d have to match incoming contract offers and show intent to be competing at the top of league 1.
So really, I suppose it depends on the appetite and stature of the clubs coming in for him.

I see Nottingham-born central defender Riley Harbottle has gone on loan to Colchester.

Judging by his performances for Mansfield last season he might have been a decent signing for us. Although let's hope Jaden Warner shores up our leaky defence and smashes it out of the park!
