I have a book at home that has that info in. Depends if you mean the first 'signing' or the first 'player', the one that kicked off the first match. First ever game was against a team called Great Lever, in 1884, first league game was against Bolton and I understand the Rams nearly had their points docked because someone in the crowd passed round a line drawing of a bad refereeing decision
