    Cycled to work in the early 80s bringing up a young family had to sell my car..

    Also cycled to my homers at night bag of tools strapped to the back of me bike and carrying a 3 mts lenght of copper pipe just to make ends meet..

    Knocked my pan in for years then retired at 50 reaped the rewards and a big gamble by going self employed at 30..one wash hand basin was all the work I had to do in my first week of self employment..

    But I do help out some old people occasionally..who can't afford to pay for a gas safe engineer..

    But will say not everyone can get a job depending on where you live it can be very difficult..we are in a bubble here in the Aberdeen area with oil and gas company's that are based here..very lucky there's others not so fortunate elsewhere..
