    Some clubs just fit with the person, unless your Newcastle of course.
    Take Schteve, this just seems to be his home, he looks content and so far everything is going okay. Perhaps that will be the same for Pearce..
    He has media commitments at the moment though and is doing the World Cup for Talksport so that might be the reason for the delay.

    Yes, Clough wasn't the best example to use!

    I think football management is about strong leadership from a strong character who commands and earns respect and trust. You often hear about footballers talking about trust for their managers when things are going well.

    A 'team' within a management set up is important but there has to be one strong focal point that is clearly in charge, the one that makes it happen, the one that the players respect and trust. McClaren may have others who do various roles for him, thus allowing him to concentrate on his strengths but those strengths involve coaching the first team, tactics and team selection, something he has Simpson and Steele to help with. He also has involvement in identifying the areas he needs to strengthen although, as I understand it, the leg work is done by others.

    But he doesn't delegate the key roles of management out because they're not really his strength.
