no it's a completely different debate to the Henderson one.

sturridge is a very good striker. no doubt about it. I rate him. he's a good goal scorer. he's had a fantastic season.

the point I'm making is that although sturridge is a better all round player England are a better team with lambert spearheading the attack if we're going to play one up front.

I'm not saying sturridge will be isolated, just that lambert will be more effective.

the Henderson thing is nothing to do with the system. it's the player.

no mate its the same with our positions reversed.

wilshere is a very good midfielder. no doubt about it. I rate him. He has a great touch and pass. He's a fantastic player.

the point I'm making is that although wilshere is a better all round player England are a better team with henderson protecting gerrard and the back four if we're going to play 2 in the middle.

I agree he could do a job at RB, he could be a dark horse for that position.

I can't see this one happening in the tournament after that display

As for the game itself the system worked well. Barkley reminds me a bit of a young Paul Gasgoine - but he needs to be playing further forward all the time, in the front midfield 3. I'm not sure Rooney fits into the best 11 as a nailed on starter in terms of the team - I think Barkley will be pushing him and Rooney won't start on the left because Lallana has looked good there.[/quote]


I don't think milner did much wrong, he's a good option there. I guess us english always need a scapegoat though.
