Yup,voted best centre half never to have played for Scotland. Made his debut in 1951 replacing Horace Gager. In fact in a period of well over twenty years Forest until Brian Clough arrived had only three main centre halves,Horace Gager, Bobby McKinlay and Sammy Chapman. They've got more than that on their current injury list.

Daft thinking about it now but I joined the Sammy Chapman fan club...He ended up at my other club, Shrewsbury Town, way past his best but still a force to be reckoned with.

Franz Beckenbauer, Bobby Moore, Franco Baresi... there are loads of better centre halves that never played for Scotland!!

A 'best eleven' which includes Mancienne at LB ahead of Cohen (club captain) and Fox!? Reid in the centre of midfield??

My 'best'team would be something like:

    Darlow

    Hunt (as Lichaj is injured)
    Hobbs
    Lascelles
    Fox (as Cohen is injured)

    Burke
    Vaughan
    Lansbury
    Osborn
    Reid

    Fryatt or Lars
Playing with only one up front !!! and i was just listing my team not putting them in any formation !!! with cohen now we will need to see where best to play him as we now do have someone who can play at left back- maybe playing in midfield hence not knowing where to put him in the team but yes i should have put him on the bench at least !!

SP has strengthened at the back (logical for an ex-defender and a good foundation), even if we were to lose Lascelles.

Midfield also looks close to being settled.

That leaves the attack. Who's gonna be his preferred choices. There seems a need for 1 more acquisition maybe even 2.

And just to make sure, Darlow to stay, he says he doesn't want to go to a big club just to be a reserve, well we'll know for sure in a month's time if it's true. But honestly I don't blame him, the pull of a club like Liverpool or Spurs is huge for a player that was playing 3rd tier barely 18 months ago.

I didn't forget him, I just thought that Brecks went without saying!

It was thinking of Breckinbauer that lead me think of the lesser German player Id.
