I'm not being harsh. We're top of the league with serious ambitions to go up automatically. He currently isn't good enough.
I'm looking forward to discussing this in 10-15 games times. hopefully 'currently' will be the operative word.[/quote]

So do i. I've already said he needs 20 games, which puts it in that bracket. We got Bamford after 20 from MK Dons. I'm not saying he's useless, but the mental side isn't there, and i don't want us to carry him until we teach him. Might as well do it with our own.

He's just trying too hard and better decisions come with playing more games.

Still having said that I would pick Dawkins over Ibe at the moment, if Dawkins was fit to play.

However, Ibe has something different to offer from Ward, Dawkins and Russell and that's the ability to beat one,two or three players in tight positions or go on runs which can cause opposing defences to panic.

Hopefully, he will get better as he plays more games.

I love Dawkins too. He keeps the ball very well. I've got the feeling he'll start playing centrally at times. He did so vs. Reading in the cup and vs. Forest. Especially when we're chasing games.

I'm not being harsh. We're top of the league with serious ambitions to go up automatically. He currently isn't good enough. The results have been good, but we drew with Millwall without scoring or creating, beat Bournemouth after he went off at halftime, and got lucky at Reading and Blackpool in parts.

It's like he's just seen grass for the first time and has to keep staring at it.
We'll have to agree to disagree Dave mate. Before his introduction to the side, people we complaining Dawkins was too predictable, saying he always cut in. Even if you don't like his directness or decision making, you can't say he's predictable.

As for Mascarell, I was very impressed. Stats wise I don't care too much about, as Thorne's who demeanor and presence on the

It seems we have a divided opinion on him. I think he has the potential to be a very good player, but he needs to improve his game in a number of areas for him to be a consistently good player at this level. Whether he will be good enough for the Premier League, time will tell. My gut feeling is, he will be, but not for a few more seasons.

I still think he is a valuable member of the squad and can offer a lot for us this season.

Really struggling to understand how people can be slating Ibe - he's come here to learn his trade and build the level of consistency that he'll need to progress for goodness sake...
If Dawks or Ward were fully fit, Ibe would probably be being used as a sub - as it is, he poses a threat to the opposition that helps the team, even if he makes the wrong decision at times - and all of our wingers are guilty of doing that on a fairly regular basis...give the kid a chance - he'll only get better by playing (and not by sitting on the bench or in the stand or by having some of our half-wit fans on his back...)

Whilst i agree with a lot of what you have said, i don't think anyone on this thread has come across as half witted. Some very interesting points from both sides of the debate.

not suggesting that the posters on here are half-wits (perish the thought) - but we all know the sort of fans that will soon start moaning if he doesn't score a hat-trick every game - the bloke that's sat behind me at the iPro for the past 16 years for a start!

    3. I like his direct running at defenders. Sure, it doesnt always come off, but at least I expect something to happen
    4. He is still learning, and I expect Shteeeve will improve him
    5. Is he the only player who makes bad decisions? No!

If he was the finished product, he would be in Liverpool team. I dont expect he will play every game for us, but think he will play more than he doesnt. Also, by end of season I expect him to be around the 10 goal mark, which for me is a great target for a winger

For every frustrating performance like last night, I expect he will have a starring show like he did against Reading in the cup

He is a very useful player to ahve in the side, brings pace and skill and he can finish and is a very useful back up fo
