Sorry, you've got me there mate. I'll be honest, my school history book wasn't very good. It had Germany invading Poland before we declared war on them. I'll go out and buy myself a decent one tomorrow. Could you recommend one for me?

Is that the same Poland that the UK helped Stalin to take over?

There's a fair bit of evidence to support this. Allowing the Poles Carte blanche to f**** the boxheeds over in east Prussia was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak.

Britain signed the Mutual Assistance Agreement in August 1939 with Poland, as did France, so when Germany invaded Poland they were attacking a coalition of States which included us. Surely not an argument that we were the agressors

Not that I agree with Aching Heid for a moment, but Stalin invaded Poland at roughly the same time, and we didn't declare war on them. Always found that a strange one.

As for who beat ******, it was The USSR and I reckon they'd have managed it without us and the Yanks too, though it'd have taken a bit tie longer. The problem then is that they'd then have carried on and steamrollered all of Europe, including us and Ireland. So in beating there ****s we saved ourselves from the USSR.

Seriously? This daftie starts a thread entitled "Stalin" and is then confused when someone posts a picture of Stalin in that thread.

Would the Soviets have won without the supplies provided by the Arctic Convoys?

Would they have won without the Germans fighting on multiple fronts (NW Europe,Italy,Africa etc)?

Would they have won without virtually round the clock bombing by the Americans and us?

Probably, due to the vast resources of the Soviets but the Germans technological advances might have negated those.

Stalin screamed and fought at every Allied Conference for the things I've listed above so even he knew that to defeat the Germans required cooperation like never before.
